In the town famous for lace making, Allhallows Museum has one of the most comprehensive collections of Honiton Lace in the world. Other displays include Honiton Pottery; a mid Victorian furnished doll's house; palaeontology; children's toys; war memorabilia, mementos of Allhallows School and the Borough of Honiton; coins and trade tokens.
The Museum Accreditation Scheme sets nationally agreed standards for all museums in the UK. Allhallows Museum's award proves that it measures up, meeting the guidelines on how it is run, how it looks after its collections and the service it provides to its visitors. It features memories of the American naval airbase at Dunkeswell during the Second World War, interviews with local people and American veterans.

Received fascinating talk from volunteer staff member about history of lace making in East Devon. This museum has the best collection of Honiton lace in the world. Other interesting exhibits too. Well worth a visit and it's free.
For disabled people most of the museum is on one level with a short stair lift down the 3 or 4 steps to the lace exhibition and an on site wheelchair for use if necessary.

It is a free to visit museum, so obviously deserves some recognition. The volunteers we met were nice and friendly, they were helpful and let the children take part in a free hippo hunt, which is nice.
The displays are fairly typical for this type of place, a little bit of local history and some war items. A good way to kill an hour or so...

I took our 3 children(ages 7,5 &a just 4 year old) here today. They and I absolutely loved it, the children have already asked when they can go back again! The staff couldn't have been more friendly and helpful, they made it a lot of fun and brought the museum to life! The children were also very excited to have each had a go at making the lace. A wonderful experience, thank you to all at All Hallows Museum! :-)
