My name is Gemma Hampson and I have worked at Munchkins Childcare for 13 wonderful years. I started as Play worker and worked my way up to Supervisor as well as working as HLTA in Moorgate Nursery. I then completed my BA Hons Degree in Early Years Education and achieved my Early Years Professional Status.
I am a qualified Forest School teacher and I love taking children out to the forest to experience the wonderful outdoors, climbing trees and singing around the camp fire. I have learnt so much in a small amount of time and feel blessed to lead and be a part of a strong, committed and hard-working team, to ensure the best outcomes for children in our care.

Nursery is organised so children have time to be involved in adult directed activities and in their own initiated activities. We involve the children in their learning and let them know why they are doing something. Children are encouraged to make decisions and solve problems, to initiate, plan, carry out and review their activities.
National data and research tells that children eligible for free school meals tend to do less well, for example in 2014 45% of children eligible for free school meals achieved the expected level at the end of the early years foundation stage compared with 64% of other children. The Early Years Pupil Premium will provide us with extra funding to close this gap.
The rain didn't stop us from having a fabulous celebration for our wonderful Moorgate turning 75 years old! As part of the celebrations staff and children came dressed up in 1940's clothes and had a fantastic day!
As well as enjoying a picnic, we sang happy birthday with Nicola's amazing Moorgate cake, the Deputy Mayor and Mayoress of West Lancashire helped us bury our time capsule, we listened to 1940s music and danced, met 'Blitzy Bear', looked at old photographs and even played some games from the past!We thanked our lovely Amanda for giving the children of Moorgate 20 years of love and care.

I'm a mature student, just finishing my 3rd year at Edge Hill. As a mature student and a mother, I had the added worry of where I would send my 1 year old son to be looked after whilst I attended University. My little boy has been with munchkins childcare and Moorgate nursery school in Ormskirk for the last 3 years whilst I studied.
It's a lovely… setting which is a very short walk from the train and bus station and not too far from campus either so ideal.
I'd recommend them to any new starters who might be In the same position as me 3 years ago. We checked out a few settings in Ormskirk

All three of my boys have gone here and I couldn’t recommend it enough - everyone is so friendly and approachable and they really try and encourage the children to be independent in a safe and nurturing environment. My boys have thrived here and they’ve loved being part of the Moorgate family just as much as I have. Brilliant place!

Fantastic nursery with lovely staff. My children have thrived here. Centrally located with parking outside and a wonderful large (shaded) garden that the children love to play in. Lots of additional activities such as forest school, visits to the local care home and christmas songs with Age Concern. Lovely family/community feel. Highly recommended!

A wonderful start to all of our children’s learning. Kids were given lots of attention and had fun whilst learning. Nice mix of indoor and outdoor play too. My daughter is also very proud of being the designer of the little purple Munchkins logo. She named it “The Happy Man” and reminds everyone she knows each time we walk by.

My daughter started at Moorgate just after she turned 3 years old and she has had an amazing 18 months here. the opportunities and experiences provided by all the teachers has allowed my daughter to flourish into a confident, kind and happy little girl who is more than ready to embark on the exciting journey of 'big school'

Moorgate Nursery school is a truly outstanding nursery school. It is in the centre of Ormskirk, has easy access for drop off outside and has a very large, imaginative (and sheltered) outdoor play space which the staff utilise very well and the children get to play outdoors every day. The staff are very good at preparing the children for school. Munchkins childcare is also based on site which has offered the flexibility of having our younger children on the same site as 4 year old and wraparound care/holiday club.

Our daughter has been going to Moorgate for a year now and loves it. We, as her parents, love it too. The staff are all wonderful and so friendly. I’ll be really upset when it’s time for her to move up to school!!! Wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Moorgate to anyone. It’s excellent and they’re giving our daughter the very best start.
