Services
To only bring toys in on a Monday (for morning children) or a Tuesday (for afternoon children) when we have a 'show and tell' time. To bring a bag of fruit or vegetables weekly which are shared amongst the children at snack time. Parents stay with their children until they are settled. We will ask you to return to the group if your child is distressed in any way during the settling-in period.
Siblings of children currently attending. The Pre-School may not be able to hold places open for Spring/Summer term start dates for siblings who will not turn three in the Autumn term. St James Pre-School is registered to accept a maximum of eight children who are under three years old and the Pre-School cannot offer more places for this age group.
The Pre-School is managed by a committee of parents which is elected at our Annual General Meeting each September. Without a fully functioning committee of at least five members, the Pre-School cannot operate. Being involved is an important way to contribute to the Pre-School community, help it grow and create the best possible environment for the children.
These have included Enjoy-a-Ball, Sing-along-with Selda, Little Imaginations and Little London Ballet. Those in receipt of Early Years Free Entitlement can attend 15 hours per week (flexibility and extra hours are available). Upon acceptance of a place, we ask for 35 towards our administration costs and a 100 deposit.

In such a short space of time, my son has progressed so much. Its been brilliant to see his week at preschool with the regular updates on Tapestry. What we love the most is the amazing staff that care for him and allow him to be himself but support his development and growth. So glad we chose St James!

Where do I start...? St James Pre-School is just brilliant. My son went there and now my daughter attends and both love it so much. The teachers have been at the school for many years and nurture the children and really care. Both of my children have had so much fun learning at the Pre- school and have made many friendships there. My daughter… enjoys the various activities they do- such as messy play and building as-well as reading and shape learning. It has such a community feel with many events taking place and support from parents and the local community. It is also open to all faiths

I was so proud to be the manager of this wonderful preschool for 25 years. The staff are so welcoming, caring and dedicated to nurturing the children in their care. The preschool was started by a group of young… mums from St James Church over 50 years ago. It still retains its Christian ethos, welcoming everyone in the community. I highly recommend this preschool.

My two girls both had a wonderful experience at St James. The staff are kind and nurturing, and they both went off to reception exceptionally well prepared and with a gorgeous group of friends. Through my role as a trustee on the committee for 4 years I was privileged enough to get to know the management team who work so hard to ensure the preschool continues to be such an important part of our local community.
