Services
With its seafront position, it was popular with wealthy Victorian and Edwardian tourists, who travelled down from London on the new Cornwall Railway. For a while, the hotel was named the Hydro Hotel and it promoted the therapeutic health benefits of sea bathing. During the Second World War, American soldiers were stationed at the hotel and anti-aircraft guns were set up in the grounds.
With its breathtaking position by the sea and 4 silver star facilities, you'll soon fall in love with the Royal Duchy Hotel. In this exquisite setting, you feel a million miles away from the hustle and bustle, yet it's only a short stroll to Falmouth town centre and golden beaches. The Royal Duchy was one of the first hotels set up in Falmouth over a hundred years ago.
Cornwall's favourite four-star hotel has so many excellent facilities that you can enjoy a fantastic break without even leaving the hotel (although you're probably want to explore). Family entertainment in the school holiday plus a pirate ship outside play area and garden games for little ones. If you have any questions about our facilities please call our friendly reception team on 01326 313042.
The Lonely Planet has just pronounced England to be the second-best tourist destination in the entire world and (we may be biased) we believe Cornwall is the jewel in the English crown. Falmouth is one of the most inspiring and uplifting places in Cornwall and The Royal Duchy Hotel makes the ideal base from which to explore.

We also had a 4 day SAGA holiday at this hotel in October. The sea view room was delightful, the staff were friendly, the breakfasts were very nice and well-cooked and the evening meals were awful. We had the same menu each evening, with only a minor alteration so that it could be called "different." There were no specials to increase the choice.Vegetables were charged extra. Cornish cream or cornish icecream were never on the menu. My husband and I found it difficult to make three choices that were really wanted on our first evening. Being given the same menu the next evening was a disappointment

Great staff and location, although I think that some of the rooms are starting to feel a little tired. The porter was fantastic and an asset to the hotel! I think that the hotel should look at room 110 as its lacking in privacy from the neighbouring building. I would go again and it was only a few niggles that stop it from getting 5 starts

Absolutely wonderful experience. I brought my mum and sister here for afternoon tea as they are on holiday visiting me. This place didn't disappoint.
The hotel itself is gorgeous, but when you walk out onto the patio area you have the most stunning views! We dined outside to make the most of them and felt like we were abroad.
Our waitresses were wonderful and helpful. Nothing too much trouble. The afternoon tea was simply sublime. A fantastic selection of cakes, scones and finger sandwiches. You definitely won't be hungry after visiting here! The quality throughout was perfect and made our afternoon
