Driftwood Hotel
Boutique coastal holidays and short breaks with exceptional award-winning dining in the heart of the Roseland Peninsula, Cornwall. Driftwood is a true coastal retreat, a beautiful seaside boutique hotel in Cornwall. Perched on the South West Coastal Path close to St Mawes and Portscatho overlooking the turquoise waters of Gerrans Bay, it is the perfect spot to unwind and soak up some vitamin sea.

Independently owned and simply styled, our hotel offers a space to comfortably enjoy life's little pleasures in the most breathtaking of locations. Nestled in seven fabulous acres with its own beach beckoning at the end of a pretty woodland path, you'll experience pure escapism and relaxation on tap from the moment you arrive.
Services
How many hotels in Cornwall (let alone the UK), can say they have their own beach and cove on the doorstep and seven acres of land to explore? Our luxury boutique hotel is located on the Roseland Peninsula, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, mecca for nature lovers, a must for culture lovers and a walker's paradise.
Relaxation and informality are our by-words, and the soft hues and textures of our decor combine, to create a home-from-home beach retreat ambience, in our luxury hotel in Cornwall. We have rooms with infinite sea views, rooms to accommodate families, and rooms for romantic getaways. Our ground floor bedrooms have decked terraces ideal for sunseekers or budding stargazers.
For the duration of your stay, your bedroom is your sanctuary. As our hotel is on the coast, each room is sympathetically and individually decorated in subtle shades, with a nod to our seaside setting. We've trialled duvets, plumped pillows and tested beds to make sure you get the best night's sleep and we've popped some nice Ren toiletries in your bathroom too.
We would like to say a heartfelt thank you to you all for your support throughout the pandemic - it's so lovely to be welcoming you back to the Cornish coast. Due to popular demand our summer availability is limited but we do have a few dates remaining please call us to find out more. Set in 7 acres of beautiful gardens and grounds, we are in the fortunate position of having abundant open space for our guests.
In order for us to safeguard the health of our staff, and to maintain our high standard of service, we need to reduce the workload of our kitchen and front of house team, so, regretfully, the restaurant will be closed for lunch on Thursday and Friday as well as dinner on Thursday and Sunday evenings.

Went for lunch. Had the Tasting menu. Amazing! Absolutely delicious. And then combined with beautiful views and superb staff. Thank you for such a lovely experience. Caught in 2 minds...keep it a secret as a special luxury but so want to tell the world and give Driftwood the recognition they well deserve.

The location is simply stunning with views out to sea and across the landscaped garden. However not all things with this hotel are as impressive.
Having eaten there previously on 3 occasions, we decided to book a 2 night stay with room, breakfast and evening meals as a package.
We found our room to be pleasant with a terrace onto the garden and a sea view. However the room had a slight musty smell (nothing major) and generally seemed like it could of done with a bit of a revamp.
We had a nice meal on the Friday evening and the service was very good with polite and attentive staff serving us

Three star!?? My ...
What a lovely establishment. Went to this hotel eight years ago, then just before C-19 unleashed itself, and i can inform you that this is the best 3-star hotel that I have visited.
Once you've settled in, it feels much more like a 5-star hotel.

I think this is the nicest hotel I've ever stayed in in the UK. I feel like I could write a novel about how relaxing and idyllic it is to wake up overlooking stunning gardens and ocean views, enjoy a delicious, leisurely breakfast and then spend the day just soaking up the lovey surroundings whether you stay at the hotel or venture to one of the beautiful towns/beaches/gardens nearby. The staff were all lovely; so accommodating and on top of everything without creating a stuffy atmosphere. As for the dinners, I don't know how the restaurant doesn't have a michelin star yet but I'm sure it will

What a wonderful little hotel. Staff were excellent, room was comfy with a beautiful view and the food... was worthy of a masterchef final ! A stroll on the beach, after a full English topped off a stay to remember. Not cheap, but you're worth it.

Wonderful hotel, we have just returned from a 4 night stay. Felt very safe with the covid measures they
have put in place.
The food was seriously good, the staff all attentive without being intrusive.
Clean, chic and really well run.
Thank you Driftwood.

Driftwood is your stereotypical Michelin starred restaurant, both good and bad.

First the good. The food was expertly prepared and presented. Started with some canapés and a steak tartare one was fantastic.

My starter was good but not great. The host raved about the scallops, and while they were nice I did not find them exceptional.

What I did find exceptional was my main, a rare fillet steak. The beef was wonderful and presentation brilliant.

On the down side, I found the service overly formal. Everyone acted as if we were in Paris or Monte Carlo rather than Cornwall overlooking the water

Me and my wife had our post wedding lunch here - they organised a sitting just for us and our small party (only 6 of us) an amazing view with amazing food and such special treatment. Haven't made it back yet but love this place and will always be thankful for the extent to which they went 'above and beyond' with the least fuss you could possibly imagine.

Had dinner last night and the food was amazing, easy to see why they have a one star. Service was excellent and not too intrusive, highly recommend for a relaxed evening, beautiful location and fabulous dining.
