Merchants Manor

Don’t book this hotel. The hotel is in a good location and our apartment was very nice. Staff in the restaurant were friendly and doing their best but they were clearly understaffed. The management and owner however are incredibly rude and customer service from them was appalling. I notice this has been mentioned in a number of other reviews too. The big issue was with the hot tub. We paid a lot of money to stay in one of the residences with a private hot tub. On one of our 3 evenings the hot tub was cold so we could not use it. When we asked for help we were told that the tub is checked twice

The room was great, comfy bed, but the chef was hit and miss. Undercooked steak, bland pan-fried cod fillet, Good breakfasts, but some of the serving staff are too green and dropping wine glasses is never a good look.

Staff were incredibly unhelpful, rude and curt. Especially that horrible woman who answers the phone who accused of us lying! Sinead or something her name was. Save yourself the money and go somewhere more accessible

Had a fantastic overnight stay. Enjoyed a lovely walk around the shops in Falmouth, came back to a cocktail near the fire and had an excellent meal. Would totally recommend.

My husband and I were gifted a tasting menu meal here as part of our honeymoon by my sister and brother-in-law. The lady that greeted us (Amelia who also served us for the majority of the meal) knew who we were straight away and congratulated us. We proceeded to have one of the nicest meals ever with impeccable service. Amelia was new and let us know as such but she did the most amazing job, she made us feel so welcome and told us all about each dish and the chef's thoughts about each. Stayed here for three nights in June. The building is beautiful and so is the bar/dining area.
We felt our room was very overpriced for the size compared to much bigger ones in the area, but it was comfy and clean.
Breakfast was good, although not much of a variety. We weren’t sure if this was the case because of staffing issues.
There seemed to be a lot waiters running around but no one was clearing away anything or helping people who needed something. We went to the bar for a drink and had to wait a long time to be served and then another half an hour for our drinks to arrive.

I had a detox massage by Hayley a couple of weeks ago. It's probably the best massage I ever had! I felt like a new woman after the treatment. So relaxing and so professional. I'll definitely come back!

We had a lovely 4 night stay at Merchant's manor hotel. The restaurant is absolutely exceptional, and we couldn't help but eat there almost every night. The quality of food and wine blew us away. Breakfast was wonderful. The staff were friendly and attentive, and we were so impressed by Katie in particular who was chatty, knowledgeable and went out of her way to make sure we had an excellent time.
This place has huge potential. The hotel itself is situated in beautiful grounds with a lovely pool and great views from the restaurant. The rooms are very comfortable, but perhaps a little bit over

Friendly staff, well maintained house and the room was clean and comfortable. Service a little slow at times but assume this is covid related staff shortage. The food was excellent and would recommend paying extra for breakfast if you stay! The digital check in / lack of a reception was odd, not a detractor as such but it's always nice to have a "go to" for questions / queries

Positives:
- Beautiful interior
- Outdoor garden with lounge chairs, outside bar and hot tubs
- Well equipped gym and clean pool, we didn’t have to book this you just ask for a card to access each day
- Good choice at breakfast if you like eggs
- Short walk into town and the beach
- Fresh towels in the room daily and bins emptied, but bed wasn’t made to hotel standard each day (duvet just pulled back)
- Mask policy enforced well
- Good cocktail menu
Negatives:
- We stayed in the main house, the bathroom was very large but did not have a shower only a roll top bath. This made it difficult
