Smith & Walker Optometrists
We like to keep our service friendly and accessible whilst investing in equipment that allows us to provide the in-depth eye examinations that we have a reputation for. Our professionals are detail oriented, compassionate, & use the available technology to thoroughly assess the health of your eyes.

We were early adopters of non-contact tonometry (for glaucoma detection), automated visual field equipment and retinal photography, and we were the first optometrists in the area to invest in an Optical Coherence Tomographer (OCT). This advanced equipment provides a central retinal examination in fantastic 3D detail that allows us to detect, diagnose and monitor retinal disease and abnormalities.
Services
To all the staff. Thanks for getting me in quick & helping with the start of my initiation to a world with spectacles! And for providing a personalized experience which in today's fast paced world is often lacking. After a nightmare time with a previous high street brand Smith & Walker took the time to reassure, and worked to the highest standard to get me glasses that worked for me.
We rely on our sight in all aspects of daily life and therefore an eye examination is essential to monitor eye health and maintain the best vision possible. We provide the most thorough eye examinations using the latest technology and equipment so you, the patient, have full confidence in our findings and recommended management.
Our Optometrists are trained to help with eye infections, red eyes, blurred vision, painful eyes, foreign bodies, flashes / floaters & any sudden changes in vision. For many years now we have collaborated with local North Lincolnshire GP surgeries, pharmacies & the CCG to be a registered supplier of Minor Eye Care Services.
Good vision is essential in childhood development and regular eye examinations are the key to good vision. Research has shown that one in five school children have an undetected eye problem. As 80% of a child's learning occurs visually, many children cannot see well enough to reach their full potential or enjoy everyday childhood activities as much as they could.
Black lines of print on a white page can set up 'visual stress'. Look at the picture below to get the idea - you may find it uncomfortable. Visual stress is thought be a problem that can affect poor readers and individuals with dyslexia. This pattern glare is sometimes called 'Scotopic Sensitivity' or 'Meares-Irlen' Syndrome.

Having had two bad experiences with two large chain Optometrists in the town with their ‘fast food style,’ I thought that I would take a gamble and try the Immingham branch of Smith & Walker. I confess that I wasn’t expecting too much initially, but the website looked good and the place was accessible and had free near-by parking. I had a short wait for a first appointment, which was no bad thing as I thought that they must be fairly busy, and if so, they must be quite popular. When I attended I could tell that the staff were managing things appropriately given the Covid situation. I found

Having used the High Street "chain" opticians in the past, it was a real tonic to use Smith & Walker for an eye test for my 91 year old mother. Easy access to the premises, friendly and patient staff, nothing was too much trouble for them. Guess where I will be going when I change MY glasses?!? Thank you for your service!
