The practice was started by husband and wife team Geoff and Ann Rouse who are both still involved in the day to day running of the business. Since then we have steadily grown, opening two more branches, one at the Northpoint Shopping Centre, Bransholme, Hull and the other at 428 Hessle Road, Hull.
Our first professional partner was Geoff's brother Ian (Dispensing Optician) in 1986, followed by Liam Castle (Optometrist) and Paul Newlove (Dispensing Optician) in 1993.We welcomed our son Christopher (Optometrist) into the business in 2012 and our latest partner Paula Howley (Dispensing Optician) in 2016.

Services
Our Newland Avenue branch was first opened in 1978 by Geoff & Ann Rouse at 25 Newland Avenue. Since then we have extended and altered the premises to make it more suitable as an optical practice. This branch contains our laboratory and administration office and is the heart of Rouse Opticians.
This branch is now managed by Jacqui Mitcheson, a qualified dispensing optician who first began working at Rouse Opticians as a receptionist 20 years ago before studying for her dispensing optician qualifications. You can park your car on the street, either on Newland Avenue itself or down the various side streets.

Our second branch is located at the Northpoint Shopping Centre, Bransholme, in the Western Forecourt. It first opened in late 1985 and was managed until recently by Ian Rouse, a dispensing optician. Since 1985 we have gradually expanded our patient base so that now this is our busiest branch. This is partly due to the large free car parks, making it very convenient to visit us.
There is good parking all around our Hessle Road practice; you can park just behind us, the car park entrance being at the top of St Georges Rd, you can also park in the Asda car park just 100 yards away or at St Andrew's Retail Park about 50 yards away. There is roadside parking for disabled people just outside our door.
We offer a wide range of glasses frames, from basic frames that are completely covered by an NHS voucher (to those entitled), to the most up-to-date designer frames. We will give you any help that you desire in choosing your glasses. A common problem in choosing glasses is that as soon as the patient removes their current glasses to try on a new frame, they can no longer see clearly so cannot tell if the frame suits them.
Do you, a friend or a relative require an eye test but are no longer able to visit a high-street optician unaided? If so, then we can arrange for an eye test in the comfort of your/their own home. We pride ourselves on giving top quality service to our patients, and we will always do our best to ensure a home eye test within 2-3 weeks of booking.
