The Quarter Jack Surgery
Medical settings are a higher risk environment and will need to be subject to more control measures than other public facilities. The delta variant is more transmissible and patients may come to the surgery when they are contagious. It is our duty to do all we can to keep both our patients and our staff safe whilst we deliver our care.

We understand our patients are waiting longer to get through to us. Since last year, phone calls have increased by up to an exceptional 100%. We received 6,000 calls last March, but over 12,000 calls in October, and still 9,500 calls this March.
Services
These services are not available for 'acute' medication (given to you for acute problems) or items which the clinician has given you to try. Examples of acute medication are antibiotics for a urine infection or cream for a rash. Repeat items are given for a specific amount of time before you need a review, usually 6, 9 or 12 months.
We welcome new patients who live within the practice area. If you live outside of the practice area, you may be able to register as an Out of Area patient - please ask for details. You can register with the practice online, in person at the Practice, or by sending your registration forms to the Practice.
It has a tower adorned with a brass replica of the Minster's Quarter Jack. The Quarter Jack was chosen because it remains a popular symbol in Wimborne Town, recognising the past as well as the present. The original Quarter Jack, high up on one of the Minster's towers, has kept watch over Wimborne people for centuries.
All registered patients are welcome to attend any meeting of the Patient Participation Group without giving prior notice. If you prefer not to receive email, please contact the surgery by telephone. Do you have any communication/information needs relating to disability, impairment or sensory loss?
Please telephone your registered GP's number and follow directions to press 1 for medication queries, 2 for nurse appointments/blood tests and 3 for GP appointments or any other query. Between 8am - 8.30am and 12.45 - 2pm Mon - Fri, a member of staff is available for emergency calls. If you need to make an appointment or have a query, please call 8.30am - 12.45pm or 2pm - 6.30pm.

Great reception team but an awful practice manager. Please visit the Wizard of Oz and ask for a heart.

I have been with this practice for a number of years now and everybody there is always so helpful and kind. All of the doctors and nurses I have ever seen there are great, I always have the feeling of being well looked after and genuinely cared about. Having Boots 'next door' is perfect too for getting prescriptions, so thank you to everybody at the QuaterJack and Boots for your fine service.

I was suffering from a bad attack of flu . Worried I got a telephone consultation from Dr Rennie, the same day . A follow up appointment was made with Dawn , a prescribing Nurse . She gave me a careful check up and put my mind at rest !

I usually order my repeat prescriptions on-line, but somehow I managed to forget to do this,(first time) and didnt realise that I had run out until I came to take them yesterday.
I called the surgery yesterday (Friday 13th November about 9.30am) and spoke to a lady who dealt with Medication queries.
I explained my predicament and after looking at my presription history she was able to get a prescription authorised and I was able to collect my medication from Boots at about 3.30pm. Please pass on my thanks for this excellent service...

Helpful, kind, polite, understanding and as accommodating as they can be with appointments when they have so many patients I don't know how they do it. Dr Wales excellent as was Dr Lear. Thank you.

Really disappointed with this surgery. I moved over from another much smaller surgery in Wimborne after not having any confidence in the GP's there.
My GP at the Quarter Jack Surgery is absolutely fantastic.. when I can contact her or even get an appointment with her. Usually I am left with a nurse practitioner appointment which on two occasions they have had to get advice from a GP anyway and I have been left waiting.
I understand that the NHS is under increased pressure but if you can't allow patients to see their own GP's when they need to then as a duty of care the amount of prescribed patients

The doctors and nursing staff are excellent. This review is for the reception staff and practice manager.
Recently my GP has left the surgery. I have seen another doctor previously that was not my registered GP.
The GP in question had requested I come back and see him with an ongoing issue. I tried to make an appointment to see the GP. I believe this is a simple request.
Despite explaining this to the receptionist I was refused to make this appointment because I was not on their register. I asked if I could be registered to GP in question, I was then told this would not be simple. I would need

Not the best experience of this surgery receptionists always asking questions about it I went in there today asking for an appointment and the receptionist kept asking patronising questions to me when I think some of the questions she asked are supposed to be asked by a doctor and not her I wanted to see a female doctor and the receptionist asked why. Receptionists asked a lot of irrelevant questions. However doctors there are nice to talk to. Very hard to get an appointment as it's always busy

I like this doctors, however the recpetion staff are very unhelpful and dont seem to care about doing whats best for the customer. when you call in they are not sympethetic with customers who may be feeling certiain ways which is why they need to see the doctor in the first place.
i understand that getting appointments can be difficult but when we try to get an appointment it doesnt help when the people on the phone are being rude and with a tone of voice with attitude.
it doesnt make people want to go here!
