As well as being closed on Bank Holidays, The Adam Practice also closes for Protected Learning Time (PLT) events throughout the year. These dedicated training sessions allow GP practice staff the opportunity to learn about the most up to date information on particular subjects and Healthcare priorities in Dorset.
When the practice is closed, there is an out of hours emergency medical service available at all times. This service is meant for urgent and emergency problems and should not be used to avoid the inconvenience of consulting during the day. If you need out of hours help, you should telephone 111 which is a free-phone number nationwide.
Andrew Mintram is responsible for overseeing the management of the whole practice and in conjunction with the Partners, providing strategic direction. Each of our surgeries has a Surgery Team Leader who is responsible for the smooth running of the day to day activities at each site. Our reception team are keen to help patients in any way possible.
Our Practice Nurses are highly trained and are available for general advice, wound dressing and suture removal, adult and childhood immunisations, travel vaccinations, health checks as well as working with the doctors in the running of various clinics. Practice Nurses also offer regular cervical smear sessions, contraceptive advisory clinics, smoke stop advice as well as other routine checks.

Yesterday afternoon I filled in an e consult form and it came back to contact my surgery . As I was passing shortly after , I went into the Adams practise reception.
I explained I had filled in the form and needed to make an appointment . The receptionist who was rushed off her feet , but still greeted me with patience and a smile explained the system at present, and offered me an appointment on 21st December . Bring in pain I asked her If their were any alternatives . Call at 8am in the morning to see if any emergency appointments were available, she advised .
I was at the surgery door at 8am

I don't understand why they still aren't seeing patients, and being on hold for 30 minutes while still 11th in the queue is just poor. Used to be a great local practice but no longer. God knows how many people are not getting important diagnoses while GPs still seem intent on not actually seeing patients.

This doctors surgery is by far the worst I’ve ever been registered with. The first issue was when I had an appointment because my morning sickness was so bad during my pregnancy that I couldn’t continue with day to day activities- the doctor prescribed me some anti-sickness tablets, when I went to the pharmacy to collect them they told me you couldn’t take those tablets whilst pregnant.
The second problem occurred when my 5 week old son (who had recently come out of hospital after a stomach infection) was still having the same symptoms and blood in his stool, I made an appointment and the

I'm very disappointed with the level of professionalism from the Doctor I saw today, not only did he speak to me like child, the way he came across sounded like I don't care about the wellbeing of my son. My son had an allergic reaction to eggs the night before and the Doctor referred him and sent me on my way and said that I need to buy antihistamin from the pharmacy for him. My son is only a year old and as far as I'm aware he should get prescriptions for free. It's not about the cost, it's about the principle.

My wife went in today to ask for advise as she has severe toothache on what pain relief she can take as she is pregnant to be told by the receptionist that simply the doctor won’t even speak to her as it’s a dental issue, the outcome of this is 6 hours in A&E to be prescribed some suitable pain relief of which I’m sure the doctor could have done regardless of where the pain is located.
