Westbourne Medical Centre
We are an innovative NHS practice with traditional values that provides excellent, patient centered care. We are proud to have a friendly multidisciplinary health care team which is always happy to help. I have been with my doctor for 20 years and I could not ask for a better doctor. After all this time they know me well and I always trust their opinion.

They have been very supportive and shows a genuine caring attitude whenever I have seen them. My 17 year old daughter is also a patient of theirs and they have helped us both massively over the years. I could not wish for a better doctor. Westbourne Medical Centre is fantastic. The facilities are second to none, and the staff were all welcoming and helpful, I knew I was in good hands.
Services
We believe in patient centred care so we run a "personal list" system. The doctor - patient relationship is at the heart of this and enables continuity of care. This means that we like you to see your own doctor for routine appointments unless he or she is away from the practice or it is more appropriate for you to be seen by another member of the team.
As a modern practice we offer a range of services to our registered patients. Some of these have previously only been provided in hospitals but we hope you find it more convenient to be seen closer to home. It is not possible or desirable that all these services are provided by a doctor. Nurses, Physiotherapists, Health Care Assistants, Health Visitors and Nursery Nurse work in the medical centre and we all work together as a team.
It's our aim to provide you an appointment system that meets your needs. Our receptionist will usually ask you for some basic details. This is to ensure we can assist you as speedily as possible and to ensure you see the most appropriate health professional for your problem. The receptionists are bound by the same strict rules of confidentiality as the doctors and nurses.
We appreciate that you may be housebound by illness, too frail or terminally ill to get to the surgery and under such circumstances we will always be happy to visit you at home. For home visit requests please telephone 01202 752550 before 10:30am and give as much information as possible so the doctor can prioritise his/her visits.
If you are feeling that your situation is serious and you need an immediate attention, but ambulance is not appropriate please call us for an emergency duty appointment 01202 752550. You will see one of our highly qualified and professional practitioners on sit and wait same day service. All patients with urgent medical problems are guaranteed to see a doctor the same day.

The staff at Westbourne Medical Centre have consistently provided me with excellent care both before and during the pandemic. In recent months I have had one face face consultation and several phone consultations with my GP. I have had two face to face consultations with the excellent musculoskeletal practitioner Ian Kennedy. My advice is to use the online form on the home page of the WMC website. It is a bit tedious to complete but in my experience you will get a reply very quickly. Thank you WMC!

The quality of care provided to me has been outstanding. The teamwork between the different professionals enables an excellent service to be provided. I’ve been a patient at the practice for over 20 years and have been treated to a very high standard throughout that time and especially during the difficult past two years.

I called about stomach problems on Wednesday, after taking an age to get through I was asked to fill in an on line survey about my symptoms which seemed never ending and circuitous. When complete I was told I could expect a call from my doctor the following Tuesday! That is six full days after my initial call. The option is to call up at 8am as an emergency. If this is all Westbourne Medical centre has to offer I'd better move to another surgery. Hopeless

My wife and I have used Westbourne Medical Centre for over eight years and have never had any complaints. Indeed, two days ago I had a face to face consultation with Dr Ian Kennedy and was seen on time and given the most professional and detailed consultation, with a very satisfactory outcome.
During 2020 we had an urgent need to see a doctor, which we did, resulting in a visit to Poole Hospital and a further face to face consultation.
We cannot understand the negative reviews but would recommend the Centre to anyone.

Have been with the surgery for years. Ran out of medication ( my own fault) and sent a request on line last night. Phoned this morning asking if it could be signed off urgently. Was told that this could not be done. Would have to wait. The fact that I need this 2 a day means nothing. What has happened to helpful service. To get an appointment is a nightmare.

Only really had phone consultations, never seen a GP face to face.
Surely COVID is going to be around for several years yet.
Eventually their going to have to see patients face 2 face.
Otherwise patients will end up at A&E.

Give 5plus stars if I could! How is it possible for one surgery to have so many nice doctors that actually listen and care when my old surgery literally only had one who that then left. . Well done Westbourne surgery & Thank you. 😊😊
Receptionists superb too and very helpful.
So far very impressed.
Nearly ran out of my painkillers right before bank holiday weekend and the receptionist swiftly sorted out with my pharmacy and I also had a call twice from the pharmacist and the tablets were ready for me the Saturday.
First chat with Dr Edwards who was lovely and patiently listened and was
