I have been practising counselling and psychotherapy since 2001 and after working in various organisations, began my own private practice - Therapeutic Counselling. Having worked with people from all walks of life with a wide diversity of personal issues and emotional difficulties, I am very aware of how hard it can be to take the first step and seek help.
Many personal problems, life experiences and traumas can lead to you feeling overwhelmed, depressed, anxious or unable to cope with life. Sometimes talking to friends and family does not help and you feel the need to work things through with someone unbiased. There is not always a person you feel you can confide in or share your most difficult, personal or intimate concerns and worries with.

Services
The decision to enter personal therapy often comes at a time of desperation, feeling deep emotional pain, maybe after months or even years of trying to deal with it or get over it. It could be more of a feeling that there is a particular issue that needs some attention or you have become aware of certain patterns which are repeating in your life.
The thirty minute session I offer free of charge allows you to come and meet with me and see how you feel about having counselling. If you do not want to work face to face we can have this half hour session by telephone or Skype. You can use this initial meeting to tell me why you are seeking counselling, ask me any questions you need to or just try out a short counselling session.
Therapeutic Counselling is the first floor suite of 181 Barrack Road which is on the junction of Barrack Road and Jumpers Road, above Calm Down Dawg, opposite Papa John's Pizza and KFC. The entrance is on Barrack Road immediately to the left of what is now a pet food shop, Calm Down Dawg, next to the Home Lighting Store (with the red and white sign).
If you would prefer to have counselling by telephone and do not want to meet face to face or think that this medium would be more convenient for you, contact me to discuss this and arrange an initial free half hour telephone session. Once we have had this free session, if you then want to have an assessment we will decide on a suitable day and time for this, on this first occasion it could be up to two weeks ahead.
I began my counselling training in 1999 and qualified in 2003, I hold an Advanced Diploma in Psychodynamic Counselling, but initially trained integratively. I also have Certificates in Helping Children and Young People, Couples Counselling and Psychodynamic Supervision.
My integrative training covered the three main theoretical strands of Humanistic/Existential, Cognitive Behavioural and Psychodynamic/Psychoanalytic theories of personality and behaviour.

I went here to get some help with some anxiety issues. Andrea seemed very lovely and accommodating at first. I booked a session with her and she gave me a chpi e of times I selected 4.45pm she then sent me a message saying 5.45 so I replied to her asking to clarify the time she replied at 4.44 saying it was at 4.45 I explained I could be there in 15 minutes and she refused to see me or see me again in the future. And blamed me for her error with the time. I find this highly unprofessional and I'm shocked that a person who supposedly understand mental health would treat a patient in such a way.
