The Fleece

It was my daughters 21st bd meal on the 23/1 and I can honestly say we had a fabulous meal. It was quite possibly one of the easiest birthday transaction I have ever had. I would highly recommend The Fleece not just for its outstanding food, but also for the atmosphere and the lovely lovely staff.

Lovely ambience in this Georgian building. Heated tent/pods outside the front and overlooking the green are a pleasant alternative to sitting within.

Brilliant evening hosted by the fleece tonight. Staff are friendly and attentive, food was brilliant and all round great atmosphere! Would highly recommend if you’re in the area! Thanks!

It was a expensive starter. I sat for a while looking at the specials..my order was taken eventually. I didn't know that I had ordered a starter. If staff spoke to me I struggled to hear them cos of my tinnitus and the background noise I wouldn't order it again cos the meat was so dense. The mustard mayonnaise and pickled veg were lovely but not enough

Had a lovely two day stay. Staff were brilliant. Breakfast was plentiful and good quality ingredients. We were so impressed with dinner the first night that we decided to have dinner there on the second night too. Only negative really was the noisy pipes in the bedroom.

I took my partner to the Fleece for our 20th anniversary with 2 of our friends. I could writer a small story about our stay, but I shall keep it short. Great hotel room I have never met such friendly staff they were brilliant the food was fantastic I wish I could find fault not really.. We will certainly return some time in the future. Fabulous atmosphere at this lovely gastro pub. Great vegan options and lots for vegetarian diets too. Pity no vegan pudding options otherwise a 5 star for sure. Dog friendly in the bar area and garden, but not the main restaurant. Good idea to call ahead and book a table in the bar if you have a dog as there are only a few tables. I spotted one group that had to go outside with their furry companion. Friendly table service to compliment a great menu.

Pit stop chill out. Sat outside overlooking the Green. Really nice.

I only had mini honey and mustard sausages and a side of hand-cut fries….. but this was not… your usual sausage and chips! Really Yum.
The menu was extensive…. and everyone’s food coming out looked fab……. so I look forward to returning to try more.

My first visit and loved it! Excellent service, fantastic roast lamb with delicious vegetables. Would really rate the cauliflower cheese. We shared cherry bakewell tart and melting chocolate hotpots - out of this world! Would definitely recommend.

Just spent two nights at the Fleece , we had such a lovely time . Room was lovely , so clean , food was exceptional and every person that looked after us was so helpful and polite . Nothing was too much trouble . Would completely reccomend this lovely place . Can’t wait to come back . Thank you

First meal out in over a year, the Fleece by far exceeded our expectations. We had a table booked for Sunday lunch but preferred a different one than they had reserved, changing the table was no problem. Service was friendly, helpful and quick. The food was excellent, and despite us asking for quite a few changes and extras (2 fussy teenage eaters and one vegetarian) we were served with curtesy and patience and received exactly what we ordered. All 4 of us agreed the food was delicious without exception, which is a rare thing. Planning to return for Sunday lunch again with family who are going

Was on holiday nearby and ended up eating at this place once for dinner and once for breakfast, and was not disappointed. The dinner menu was quite expansive, as was their drinks menu. The breakfast menu also had several great veggie/vegan options. Outdoor seating is nice and cool underneath a large tree which provided shade. The inside seating area was also spacious and comfortable.

Came here with my family. The food was spot on. I was very impressed by the presentation and taste. So that’s a 3. Well done chef! The cheesecake was really good!
However, don’t read out the specials if you don’t actually have them. Drinks orders were incorrect as well as arriving late to the table. It came across our own fault by some of the staff members. A girl had spilt a drink by accident, but instead of dealing with the situation in a calm manner there were slamming glasses on the tables. That is not good customer service!! Service with a smile goes a long way. I work in the same industry
