The Museum has a display of around 20 historic vehicles, transport artefacts, displays, photographs, a tea bar and a shop. The Isle of Wight Bus & Coach Museum was established in 1997 when a group of enthusiasts, most of whom owned or part-owned a vintage bus or coach, needed collectively to provide for secure undercover accommodation for their vehicles.
The Museum has a display of around 20 historic vehicles, transport artefacts, displays, photographs, a tea bar and a shop.

The Isle of Wight Bus & Coach Museum was established in 1997 and was originally situated in two IoW Council owned buildings on Newport Quay, later this was reduced to one building and a Museum was created opening to the public during the summer, where a collection of vehicles and associated artefacts grew into an impressive display, to show the Island's transport heritage.

What an interesting place! Run by volunteers who are passionate about transport. They hold several events where the vehicles are in action as far as East Cowes. Good cuppa served in real China mug is just £1.30! Bought back childhood memories of school trips.

A great museum with great running days and some knowledgeable volunteers. Their running days are excellent too, although I would question why an open-top bus would run along a route where there are a few overhanging tree branches which could cause injury to passengers seated on the upper deck of such a vehicle as that happened to me. If the Museum wanted to run an open-top service on a running day it could be better running it through the likes of somewhere safer like Brading or Sandown rather than along some meandering roads where the tree branches literally brush against your face with varying

Great little museum run by very friendly volunteers. Kids even get to sit on a couple of the buses and pretend to drive.. Brilliant to occupy kids for an hour. Little cafe where you sit at tables in a bus. Free entry, donations accepted.

A lovely little museum, and FREE! The volunteers were helpful, informative and knowledgeable. My daughter loved it. There was a great selection of buses, a lovely little 'tea bus' where we were able to stop and have a drink as well as a film you could watch about buses on the island. An enjoyable few hours.

Went to visit with elderly relatives. Housed in an old Bus Garage, its an amazing collection of old and relatively modern bus transport, housed in a suitably contemporary setting. Its run by a collection of enthusiasts who have kept and restored the collection very well.
Plenty to look at and a chance to enjoy a quick tea onboard a converted bus. Recommended.

Can’t believe that this museum is free. The collection is insane and there are so many beautiful buses. I was just a bit sad that we couldn’t get on most of them. But we can be really close to them and try to take a look inside. Definitely a museum that should visit if you love vintage transport like myself. We couldn’t resist leaving a donation because we were really happy with our visit.

Such a warm welcome by all the friendly staff and volunteers here. The vehicles are lovingly restored and it’s fascinating to read some of the stories of their history. Especially the horse drawn coach !

It is an interesting bus museum run entirely by volunteers. Unfortunately due to Covid regulations you are unable to go onto the buses themselves. Hopefully one day people will be able to do this once again and get more enjoyment from the old buses.

Very nice museum. It's a walk down the history of buses. Enjoyed a lot seeing vintage buses. It's a free museum but you can support them by donating or buying a vintage bus as souvenir. They are reasonably priced.
