The Leek Veterinary Clinic
With spending more time with our pets, it's only natural for owners to develop a keen eye for the detection of subtle issues. If you've noticed your pet seems to be drinking more than usual, or they're scratching their ears a lot, or if they seem to take some time to get up from their beds and their walk seems rigid at first, don't hesitate to give us a call for advice.

As essential workers during this lockdown, we're here for you and your pets. If there are any issues that compromise your pets' health and wellbeing, we can provide the care they need. We are a friendly, local and compassionate team meeting all of your pet's needs, whether it's dogs, cats, small furries or exotics.
Services
Do not allow dogs to swim in icy water or to walk on frozen lakes, this may seem to be common sense but often dogs being exercised off lead will venture and get into trouble. The best advice is to keep them on the lead or use an extending lead so that you are in control of them!

Breeds like Westies and Poodles are often clipped on a regular basis all year round; this removes any waterproof coat that they would naturally have therefore the hair if it does get wet will stay wet and make them cold. Some owners choose not to clip during the winter months but it does take time for the coat to become waterproof again.
For your piece of mind we are making sure that your pet has access to emergency care 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Outside surgery hours we have made arrangements with the specialised emergency clinic Vets Now.

The Vets Now team is very experienced with emergency and critical care medicine and surgery and their vets and nurses only work outside normal working hours ensuring they are fresh and ready for you, whilst our surgery is closed, so that your pet will receive the best possible treatment and care.
Vaccination is an injection or a course of injections that protect your puppy against diseases, some of which can be fatal. First the vet will perform a thorough examination of your dog to make sure he or she is in good condition. The vet will then inject the vaccine, which contains dead or weakened viruses or bacteria.

They really care about the animals. Ralf checked our labs teeth for me tonight because I thought one was cracked and gave us a toothbrush and toothpaste and never even charged me. Magic loves Ralf and he gave me some good advice on how to clean her teeth properly

We have used Ralph for many years and cannot speak highly enough of him, he is always courteous, pleasant and professional. We recently lost our dog and he was compassionate and caring. We take our new dog and he treats him so well we are over the moon with his treatment, whenever we call the staff are so pleasant and polite, I would always recommend this practice to anyone, thanks everyone at Leek vets.

Lovely vets. I wish the rotten lock down rules would end. Sick animals and frail owners forced to wait on the pavement ouside

I have used a few vets over the years but I have settled here. They are kind and understanding and very efficient. Ralf is a fantastic vet, giving information and advice. His prices are always fair. Most of all our family trusts Ralf and that is a really important factor when choosing a vet.
