Whether you are looking for an extracurricular activity or looking to acquire self-defence strategies or inspired by the Olympics and want to become a fighter. Whatever your motivation, we can help. We are on a mission to spread the ancient Korean martial art of Taekwondo and as such we have and are looking to open up classes all over the UK and beyond.
The primary function of The Hadri Taekwondo Academy is to spread and promote the Korean Martial Art Taekwondo (Kukkiwon) and World Taekwondo (WT) Olympic style Taekwondo. Our team of highly qualified instructors are dedicated to provide all students with a safe and constructive environment in which to develop their skills.
Taekwondo has over 60 million practitioners in 184 countries. It originates from South Korea where the Word Taekwondo Academy (Kukkiwon) and the World Taekwondo Federation (WTF) are currently based. In Taekwondo, you learn a variety of blocks, punches and kicks. The blocks include rising, knife-hand and palm variations.
One of the earliest clues of Taekwondo's existence is a mural painted on the wall of a tomb that was built in the Korean kingdom of Koguryo, between 37 BC and 66 AD. The drawing shows two unarmed figures facing each other in a Taekwondo style stance. Additional drawings in the tomb show figures performing blocks and wearing uniforms similar to those used in modern day Taekwondo training.
At Hadri Taekwondo self-defence techniques are taught to students as part of the training program. At the lower grade levels we start with basic releases and progressively building toward more powerful and stronger techniques. As students advance through the grades more complex techniques with locks and take downs are also taught.
