Services
On behalf of the children, staff and governors, I would like to welcome you to Pudsey Lowtown Primary School. Our school have maintained high academic standards and we have achieved results above Leeds and National averages in all Key Stages over the past 3 years. As well as academic rigour, we offer a broad and balanced curriculum that equips children for later life.
Our history curriculum is designed to ignite children's curiosity and excitement about the past. We aim to provide children with contextual knowledge related to the topics they are studying, whilst teaching the skills necessary for our pupils to develop a deeper understanding of the past and how it has influenced the world around them.
With a set of moral values - respect, empathy, responsibility, honesty, resilience and tolerance. Having fulfilled their potential academically and gained a complement of skills - communication, mathematical, scientific, artistic, physical and social. With a set of empowering learning skills - independent enquiry, team working, reflective learning, effective participation, self management and resourceful thinking.
At Lowtown we believe in developing a "growth mindset" for all pupils and staff. This is something that you might have heard your child talk about "going in the pit" or challenging themselves - the idea is to develop attitudes which will help us all to become effective, resilient learners.
Our school project is concentrating on the actions and words of teachers and parents, the messages we send to children, and how these words can influence how children think about themselves and their learning. So it's very important to phrase what we say carefully! As a general rule, to create a growth mindset, we need to praise children's effort (not what they achieve) and avoid labelling them.
