New Romney Counselling Services
We are a voluntary organisation and a registered Charity, founded in 2000 to meet the need for a counselling service to cover the gap between Folkestone, Ashford and Hastings, for those that cannot afford private practice; we provide a low cost, donation based counselling service to anyone who can get to us.

The aim of counselling is to help you feel in charge of your own life and to support you in working towards a more satisfying way of living. Many people benefit from personal counselling and the reasons people contact us are varied. Some examples are stress and anxiety, bereavement, sexual/physical abuse, relationship problems and addictions.
Services
New Romney Counselling Services offers a safe, confidential, non-judgemental and supportive environment, in which you are able to work with a Counsellor to explore issues and gain greater understanding and insight into thoughts, feelings and behaviours which will help you to develop the right solutions for you.
New Romney Counselling Services are very fortunate in having over 35 Qualified Counsellors, to help us deliver a professional counselling service. In addition, Counsellors donate a portion of their fee directly back to NRCS.

Our experienced Counsellors, many with advanced training in various Specialisms, enable us to work with a vast range of issues which is why we often receive referrals from Doctors surgeries, Schools & Colleges as well as Youth organisations, victims of crime and other mental health Professionals. In addition to our Qualified practitioners, we also offer Clinical placements for trainee Counsellors nearing completion of their training.
What if I don't know where to start or what to say? - No problem. Counsellors know that it can feel very daunting and difficult to open up. The Counsellor will put you at ease quickly and offer a safe, non-judgemental environment in which to talk. I'm not used to showing emotions - what if I get emotional?. - You don't have to show emotion - many people don't.
Without the generosity of our volunteers in giving their time absolutely free, we wouldn't be able to offer a vital Counselling service which helps so many people. Our volunteers perform a range of vital functions such as staffing our Charity shop - Faith, Hope & Charity, which contributes significantly to funding the service.
Anxiety can affect anybody regardless of age or background. Common causes include work, money worries and relationships. it can be truly devastating to feel no longer able to cope. Unfamiliar feelings of indecision and constant anxiety can leave us feeling bewildered, helpless and alone. Pressure is a normal, healthy aspect of most people's lives and helps us remain motivated and focussed.

Both counsellors we saw were completely unprofessional. One of them had terrible communication and gave inappropriate advice making the session uncomfortable while the other was unnecessarily aggressive and judgemental.

Disgusting treatment of their clients. They take advantage of vulnerable people and change the prices. Wouldn’t pay a single penny for their unskilled and inexperienced “counsellors”. Communication throughout the service is appalling. Had family use their services a while ago and never again

The receptionist Michelle was nice - that is the only positive aspect of my experience here. The counsellor and I say that word loosely because this woman was so rude and had no idea what she was talking about - she made comments that were rude towards myself, told me not to laugh or smile during therapy with her and moaned about the NHS getting money as opposed to this service. Very unprofessional lady, wouldn’t recommend.

A family I know needed help and counciling. They came to you for that help and counciling and couldn't afford your "donation".
Is it only those that can afford your donation that can get help or are there exceptions?
