Counselling In Hastings
My interest in counselling, personal development and therapy started over 30 years ago and was partially inspired by the help I received as a client. I initially trained in body therapies such as holistic massage and some years later, I began my formal studies in counselling at West Kent College in Tonbridge.

I then went on to study for a BACP Accredited Diploma in Humanistic Integrative Counselling at the Wealden College of Counselling and Psychotherapy in Crowborough. The course gave me a solid grounding in client led counselling and covered Person Centred Counselling, Gestalt and Transactional Analysis.

Counselling can help you make a positive change in your life or support you through a particularly stressful or emotional time. Many of us experience moments when our problems feel overwhelming, when what we need most is to talk to someone confidentially, someone who will not judge us, who will listen, someone objective yet warm, empathic and accepting.
My approach to couples counselling is simple. First and foremost, it's time out of the rest of your lives to focus on you as a couple. It's time that is precious and that often falls by the way in day to day life, often out of necessity, and sometimes we avoid it because it's too painful to actually sit down together and talk.
I am passionate about the work that I do and the humanistic approach to therapy that I use means that I believe that you are the expert in yourself, and our work together is designed to help you uncover your own answers. We are all unique and consequently, I approach each client afresh. The best analogy I can give you is that entering counselling is like embarking on a journey and, as your counsellor, I am there to walk beside you.
How often do you find yourself on auto-pilot? Perhaps you've driven somewhere and can't remember the journey or eaten a meal and you can't remember the flavour of or indeed what you've just eaten. Our lives are full and busy and seem to fly by without us really making the most of each moment. Added to which, we can get caught up in our thinking, churning over a seemingly long list of things to stress about.
The course will hopefully be fun, as well as meaningful, and we will spend time getting creative, being reflective, encouraging self-compassion and mindfulness, looking at the power of active acceptance, change, play, letting go and gratitude, what brings richness to your life, looking for understanding, exploring boundaries, freedom and what your values may be.
