Face masks required for staff & guests in public areas. Hand sanitiser available to guests. Socially distanced dining tables. Floors marked for social distancing.
Very busy place for a Thursday evening; which shows its popularity. Good service, to order food go to the bar. Welsh & English spoken. Very close to the castle.

My sticky toffee pudding never arrived after waiting for an hour. After the first 20 minutes, I reminded the waiter about my order, who said it was on the way. Then another waiter brought the cutlery after about 30 minutes, then nothing. In the end, I just left because I had lost my appetite (and 4 pounds in the process).

An absolutely fantastic place to eat and drink. Could not fault the staff and service.
What I would call a proper pub, big beams, proper fires and an 'old' feel to the place that thankfully hasn't been modernised like many others. There is another part that looks newer but is in keeping with the rest of the place.
The beer was great and the food was top-notch, not a bad thing to say. You could tell the food was good by watching other diners.
Recommended it to a couple who were looking outside. 👌

Decent meal here and friendly staff, even if they clearly had forgotten our main meal and had to chase it after what seemed like an age. No real apology but it was a warm evening and we were outside so it was OK. Steak & ale pie was very tasty.
Only major gripe was having to wait ages to be seated at the start….one member of staff coming back out to check the ever-increasing queue literally every 5 minutes, and just take one party, even though there were plenty of tables available inside and in the courtyard. People could have been greeted and seated much much quicker.

Hubby and I were doing a quick driving tour of Wales and decided to spend the night in the NW port town of Caernarfon, opposite the Isle of Anglesey. We are so glad we did! Arriving lat night, the night staff kindly allowed us to park adjacent to the inn, and not wanting to venture too far to eat dinner, we ate at the Inn's restaurant/pub. Luckily we only had to wait 10-15 mins for a small table next to the fireplace. Score! The restaurant is cozy and meal portions quite decent. I highly rec. the fish 'n chips. The next day, we took a 1/2 hr walk around town -- it's a beautiful

Honestly, I can't believe a place with this name still exists. It would not in the US. However, it is one of the most highly rated places in Caernarfon. My son had the fish and chips with mushy peas. It was huge! I had the recommended lamb. It was also substantial and flavorful but lacking the wow factor I was expecting. Others found their meals decent. It was quite pricey for the quality of the food. The service was slow. There was one poor waiter for the whole establishment and his stress was visible!

My wife and I went here with four friends while we were visiting this town. We didn't have reservations and were told we would have a considerable wait for a table. We decided to put our name in and wait in the pub area. We managed to find six seats in what was a very small, but cozy pub. One of our friends was actually sharing a table with two local patrons and they were very friendly. We ended up staying in the pub for our dinner.
Most of us ordered beers and just soup or something light. What we had was very tasty.
This place lived up to the good reputation they have and we ended up having

Looking for somewhere to eat in Caenarfon and came across this pub on Yelp and so glad we did. As soon as you walk in, you feel the warm friendly buzz - families playing draughts, couples chatting, groups of friends hanging out - it's a proper pub! My kids hit the jukebox and loved hearing their choices playing.
We stayed to eat and were impressed by the range of choice on the menu. We mostly chose pies - fish, lamb and steak and ale and were not at all disappointed. My seafood crumble had an array of chunky fish pieces in and the most tasty cheesy topping. Good sized portions of chips, vegetables

Very cute pub with an eye catching exterior - you will not miss it when you are walking around Caernarfon Castle area! Usually I am not a big fan of pub food, but I am surprised that they have quite a huge selection of dishes. I just wanted a light lunch so I went with the Trio of Prawns with cocktail sauce (in the starter section). The prawns were fresh and cocktail sauce was perfect. The staff working there were very friendly and helpful too. As it's the last day of my holiday, I could not return to try the main courses. Wish I had discovered this place earlier. Would definitely recommend

Very cute pub with a charming - if slightly chaotic interior - and a nice patio in the front to people watch. If you're in the mood for a pub you'd be hard-pressed to find a better one in the town.
The ales on tap are tasty and service is friendly. The food is frozen-and-fried. The claims of "locally caught" fish may be true but it's also locally cooked to death.
Go to this place expecting a nice pub and lively atmosphere with something to fill your stomach that you won't think much about and you'll be fine.

Having recently had to move back home for the summer, I do miss absolutely everything about the wonderful city of Manchester, especially it's lack of seagulls. However one of the best things about being home is being able to catch up with old friends.
So we meet up for lunch/dinner at least once a week, and this time we headed over to the Black Boy, I've been here more times than I can account for however I'll base this on the last couple of times! At weekends it can get quite busy here, especially Saturday nights as a lot of locals frequent the pub as well as visitors.

I visited the pub portion of this restaurant at lunch. The menu was fairly extensive with options for starters, light meals or full pub meals. I got Dwynwen's Pie, which was chicken and leak pie served with sweet potato chips and peas. It was very tasty. The ambience of the pub is nice with exposed beams and antique fixtures. It was a very enjoyable experience.

This review is for the pub in Black Boy Inn.
You pass by the Black Boy Inn, and it's pretty clear it's geared toward the tourist. I usually don't like to go to touristy places, but this place kept calling out to me.
Finally I went there specifically for dessert after dinner elsewhere.
The atmosphere is cozy and the interior sweet, yet rough around the edges traditional pub. It was a fun place to stop for dessert.
I ordered the Sweet Profiteroles, which was nothing less than perfection. Exactly as you'd expect it, yet even better. And coupled with Traditional Tea and cream
