Heaton Medical Centre is home to an NHS general practice providing a comprehensive range of medical services within friendly, comfortable and modern purpose-built premises. There is a car park, easy access for the less mobile, with all consulting rooms on the ground floor, and facilities for disabled people and families with toddlers and babies.
There is a pharmacy at the practice to dispense your prescriptions. You will then be directed to information articles and videos advising you on how to treat your symptoms and what you may need to do next. The forms are quick and easy to use and tailored to give you help and advice that's specific to your condition.

Services
We are currently accepting patients within the practice area. Please check your postcode on our catchment area map, which can be found under Practice Information. If you cannot provide us with your NHS number you must bring some form of photo ID to prove your identity, for example; driving licence, passport, student card.
If you are on long-term medication, you will be given a prescription re-ordering slip. This allows you to request repeat medication without seeing the doctor every time. Repeat medication is normally issued in a quantity to provide one or two months' supply. After a specified number of repeats, you will be required to see the doctor or the nurse for review or any monitoring tests to ensure that all is well before further prescriptions are issued.
If you print out any information from your record, it is also your responsibility to keep this secure. If you are at all worried about keeping printed copies safe, we recommend that you do not make copies at all. If you spot something in the record that is not about you or notice any other errors, please log out of the system immediately and contact the practice as soon as possible.
We do not offer a service for "Walk-in" urgent appointments. To improve access for patients with urgent problems we have appointments available, on the day, every day, subject to availability. Appointments come available from 7.00am on line (for online access please register) and by telephone from 8.00am.
The Surgery provides appointments outside the usual opening hours for a routine bookable appointment with Doctors and Nurses. These appointments are available on Wednesday morning from 7:00am and Thursday evening from 6:30pm to 7:30pm. The Bolton GP Practices have joined together to support 7 day access within Primary Care.

Tried to register earlier today. Have you seen Monty Python's Holy Grail? The scene where they try to cross the bridge?
It was like that.
Decided to go else where. Cannot be bothered engaging with people who are just being obtuse.
(I'm a health care professional by the by. I have some knowledge in this field. Thet two ladies are grossly ill suited to a patient facing role.)

I moved here from another GP's and I am astounded at the difference in care. You can actually get an appointment with a doctor for starters.
The GP's are thorough, highly knowledgeable and are relentless in getting to the cause of illnesses and also treat the symptoms. They do all of this with such empathy. To conduct themselves so cheerfully, professionally and provide the selfless care that they do is remarkable. All in a pandemic too.
I have had to ring for emergency appointments on a couple of occasions and had no problem seeing/speaking to a doctor that day.
It can take a while to get through

Worst practice I've had the misfortune of registering with. Been seen by 3 different doctors for the same issue and been given grossly inaccurate medical information all 3 times. Due to worsening of issue and frustration with lack of knowledge across the 3 doctors I had to seek private medical advice for what is actually a very simple basic issue
Advised privately that the initial prescription given was wrong and that the medical advice provided thereafter was also incorrect !!!!
Avoid if you care about your health

I am stunned at the high level of negative reviews.
Today I spoke to a lovely, very polite diligent woman named Tracey to whom did her very best to help with my requirements.
It's a shame that the people who obviously take great pride in their work like Tracey, can get tarnished with such negative reviews.
I give full thumbs up and many thanks to Tracey and the staff who've assisted me this year with such troubling circumstances during my pregnancy.

This service seems almost impossible to use. Ring one day for an appointment (after no answer for over 2 hours in the afternoon) to then be told that there are not appointments today.
Ring back at 08:00 the next day to make an appointment. Why can't they make an appointment when you ring the day before?
Of course, when you attempt to ring at 0-8:00 just like everyone else has been told, then the line is constantly engaged. It's like the old days of men turning up at the docks to get a day job.
Very poor service. I give it one star because I couldn't give it zero stars

I cannot get an appointment. There are no appointments available to book online. You have to go online on the day after 7am or ring from 8am and if you are lucky you get an appointment on that day. This is no good for people like myself who work full time. I have to book time off work in advance. This is very disappointing as with the old system you could book appointments in advance. I have a very good doctor there but cannot get to see her or any other doctor.
