La Lanterna Westend
Hidden in plain sight on one of Glasgow's busiest streets, many would walk past this Italian institution situated right opposite Central Station. The warm and unpretentious setting, together with a few glamorous touches, invites diners to indulge themselves, and with the arrival of the table nibbles you know you're in good hands - the house-made focaccia is so moreish it would satisfy as a starter by itself.

Aged prosciutto and 'seasonal fruit' is beautifully presented as a parcel of the freshest mixed berries, rich in colour, enveloped in a bed of the finest, thickly sliced prosciutto ham. It's a simple but mouthwateringly sweet and salty delight - testament to the quality of their ingredients. Risotto mari e monti is among the best risottos you'll try in Glasgow.
Services
La Lanterna West End opened its doors in the summer of 2017. Co-owners Chris (General Manager) and Luca Conreno (Head Chef) added this second restaurant to the La Lanterna portfolio, expanding from the City Centre to the West End.

The opening of the second restaurant heralded the arrival of a fresh dining experience to the West End, bringing with it the much-loved La Lanterna warmth, style of service and, of course, authentic Italian cooking honed from decades of experience. We hope that every diner that comes through our doors enjoys the atmosphere and taste of Italian cooking we bring to Glasgow.

The vineyards are planted mainly on poor glacial soils that force the vines to dig deep for nutrients. The resulting wines are complex, intense and fine. Lively, freshly cut pear and baked bread character with a touch of sherbet and a nutty note. There are diverse wines on offer here with aromatic styles from the mountainous areas of Piemonte and long, minerally almost Chablis-like Gavi which nods towards the Genovese coast.
The restaurant has a very modern Italian feel, and all the staff were very pleasant and helpful and welcoming. Inside is not the biggest of restaurants, so if you want to visit maybe advanced booking is best so your not disappointed. So having both meant that there was no pate left! which is a BIG pet hate of mine more so when its really nice Pate.

Managed to fit us in as long as we were quick as they were going to be fully booked so would recommend pre booking. Staff were pleasant and the food was excellent. There's currently some plastic covid protectors between the tables which also helped block some of the noise. Could be a bit cramped when trying to get your coat on and leave the restaurant etc.

Ordered Coda Di Rospo and Penne Arrabiata on deliveroo on Wednesday evening, then ended up in hospital. The monkfish was not deboned well. I got a fish bone stuck in my throat and needed to go to A&E for this incident. also Arrabiata was extreme spicy, couldn't even finish half. Highly not recommend!! NEVER visit again.

First time visiting La Lanterna for lunch and it was absolutely amazing! Service was friendly and attentive, recommendations were spot on and very reassuring. Set menu options were incredible value for money and every dish was as tempting as the next. Everything was presented and cooked perfectly. I genuinely have no notes! Highly recommend the risotto, bruschetta, mussels in white wine sauce and the tiramisu.

Gorgeous interior with friendly staff. The focaccia was terrific. The mains were a bit over-salted but were good anyway. The coke could be served chilled instead of over ice. The strawberry cheesecake was delicious :)
