The food was tasty but the atmosphere and the service weren't really good. It was really quiet inside, only one table dining, the music was somewhere in the back playing really low. The servers were a bit confused when we order because we wanted all at once but they brought us starters then mains. It was a bit depressing inside to be honest. I love Greek food and I enjoyed my food, I would love to come back to a different and more lively atmosphere.

A wonderful place to have diner with a partner or with a group of friends. The attention, the service and the quality of the food make for an outstanding experience. Homemade Greek delights that easily bring the flavours of the islands to your senses. A definite must!!! Dear George, your friends from Andalusia will always remember you and your wonderful team. Thank you for sharing the experience with us.

Great wee greek restaurant in the heart of Glasgow City Centre, been a while since I was last here, and I forgot how good it actually was. Decided on the Alfresco dining under the Marquee on Gerorge Sq.
The young waiter was a good laugh cracking a few jokes etc.
There was complimentary olives and bread to start, I had the Lamb Souvlaki, which was beautifuly tender and we'll seasoned, and both the salad and rice that accompanied it were tasty. Friends had the Mixed Grill and Kleftico and had rave reviews about those dishes also.

This was without doubt the best meal out I've had in a while. Everything was delicious. We had bread & olives with oil and balsamic dip which was complimentary. These were the best olives I've had. Not overly bitter and really tasty. We ordered the Taramosalata (seafood dip) and the Melitzanosalata (smoked aubergine dip) which came with fresh baked pitta bread. Both dips were really fresh and tasted amazing. I also was going to order the Grilled Haloumi Cheese, however our server Dimitri recommended the Kefalotyri ( Cretan Cheese, lightly fried) and he was right... bloody delicious!! So if you

Staff were excellent & very friendly. Didn't get off to a great start as they didn't have 2 of the drinks from the menu but after that everything was perfect. The calamari was some of the best that I've ever had my wife had the king prawn souflaki & these were huge & 0lenty 9f them. First time vistors but will definately go back.

To start on the positives: our waiter was very nice, the location and view is brilliant, and there was a wide alcohol selection; however, overall our experience was very poor.
Three times I was asked if I wanted drinks when I had already ordered the first time but they had been forgotten, so I had to order them again. The vegetarian mousakka was more like a tasteless vegetable cottage pie, and bizarrely lacking eggplant. When we were paying at the end the manager(?) kept speaking over us and calling out to other staff members which we found really rude. We wouldn't go back.

What an incredible restaurant! My family and I came to Glasgow on vacation from the United States. We were looking for somewhere to eat and happened to stumble in on this gem.
Located right in George Square, Elia offers a great view of the square. Every dish we ordered was excellent! Good portions, display, and a great atmosphere.
George, the owner, actually came and sat with us throughout our dinner and made the experience one-of-a-kind. The staff were so helpful and accommodating. Dimitris, Thanasis, Fani, and Natalia all took care of us and made sure our party of 6 had everything we needed

This was really good. It is immediately at the red tour bus (hop on hop off) number 1 stop. We chose this place because we were cold, tired, and hungry. The food was amazingly delicious. As soon as you order you get bread, vinegar and oil, and olives. Food comes out fast and very flavorful.
They have lunch specials for under 7 pounds. The main platter comes with salad, so no need to get the Greek salad as course one (unless you want to).
The toilets are extremely clean and on the same level. Handicapped friendly.

Balmy Saturday afternoon, the city buzzing with all the Commonwealth visitors and the wee cuz & I looking for an early dinner with no reservation. We were heading for the Merchant City when I had a wee flash of inspiration, we had once before visited Elia and I thought this is the kind of food I was looking for today.
Fortunately they had a table free we were greeted a very nice Greek Gentleman who instantly made us feel very welcome.
We ordered some wine & some tap water and perused the menu, I ordered // Kefalotyri , a cheese from Crete which is lightly fried and wee cuz had // Prawn

Had a terrible meal in here. The lamb moussaka tasted like a cinnamon swirl, was scalding hot around the edges and cold in the middle. And the lamb skewers came on a plate with no skewer in sight, limp old lettuce with a couple of bits of peppers and greasy chips. The meal came to £44 and we only had soft drinks. I paid for the meal as my fiancé didn't want me to complain because she felt sorry for the waiter but it's the chef who should have an ear full. Safe to say they cursed me when I left as I didn't leave a tip. It was dead on a Saturday around 2 o'clock and the town

I've eaten at Elias a few times and have never been disappointed. The food is divine. I favour the kleftiko and any starter- they're all good.
There's a lot of Greek staff, if you haven't travelled to Greece before (real Greece, not a week in Corfu with all the other British people) you would know the Greek serve on Greek time. They value time in meals so don't mix this up with poor customer service. You should sit and enjoy your meal, get a coffee.. Chat and have a baklava.
Take in the experience because Elias is amazing and by far my favourite restaurant in Glasgow.

Elia was a great find for us on our weekend trip to Glasgow. We were running late for lunch (2:30p) and we stumbled in because their menu looked decent and Greek sounded good to us.
We were initially put off by the service; the wait staff acted very superior and both unapproachable and cold. I think they might have been upset that we arrived when there were not supposed to be any customers; I think they probably relish relaxing during the couple hours between lunch and dinner, and who wouldn't?

I'm just back from the Elia with a friend for lunch. We ate from their Set Lunch menu which offers 2 courses for only £6.95 which was brilliant value. Our soft drinks only cost £1.50 each so they cannot be accused of making up their money with expensive drinks.
The staff were very helpful and pleasant from the moment we entered and I was really surprised to read the previous reviews which said the service was poor.
We both ordered the 'small' Greek salad to start and Moussaka for our main and they were both lovely and fresh and definitely good value for money. The 'small

I had noticed Elia a few times on my almost daily commute through Glasgow, and it always seemed busy. The windows look out over George Square, making it ideal for people watching (and for passers by watching you eat!)
The restaurant itself is beautiful, clean lines and wooden furniature, gorgeous potted trees and simple music really make this place feel relaxed. We chose a window seat and it made for fantastic observing of the hustle and bustle of the Square, a total contrast to the quiet inside!

Elia Greek Restaurant is situated on George Square on the Queen Street side. The decor is fresh and modern which is slightly unexpected for this style of restaurant. On the night of our visit there appeared to be some delay in being greeted by staff and sadly this theme continued throughout the night. Service staff appeared to have a lack of observation skills and were unable to recognise the needs of the customer. We felt on our visit we were being constantly observered and watched with constant interuptions during eating. The table sat with plates and empty drink glasses for much too long. When
