On the 4th October, approximately 30 Machynys Seniors arrived at Maesteg Golf club.
We were warmly greeted by a member of staff, the bacon rolls were excellent.
After a week of solid rain the course held its own and was in very good condition with valley views surrounded by forest.
The meal after our Golf was promptly served.
Our day ended with a visit to the bar and smiles from the bar staff.
Well done Maesteg Golf Club.

Me and a mate played yesterday, and even in the wet conditions this club has faced the course has still held up really well , greens were lovley and so were the fairways , an absolute hidden gem of a course… with views from every hole! only complaint I have is that the tee boxes were abit wet but that can't be helped! will definitely be back and even looking to get a membership next season! thank you!

Played today as we couldn't play our own course due to COVID. were made very welcome but a shame due to the top dressing on the greens - which we know has to be done and the weather - which nobody can control. !! Very interesting course and hopefully will return shortly. Now we played it once might have more of an idea with the holes

Looks to be a challenging course set on the hills above Maesteg. We called in to the clubhouse in search of a drink and a warm up after a 9 miles ramble on a cold and blustery day. We were made to feel welcome with no mention of our scruffy walking attire and found a relaxing ambience. A fair range of beers and lagers on offer but the choice of drinks a bit limited for the women in our group.

Fantastic course. The peaty fairways cracked a little during the recent dry spell but 3 days rain made for near perfect conditions today. Greens were perfect and some nice tiers to make it interesting. Some of the fairways are undulating and sloping so some thinking is required, but there are many holes where you can let loose for a satisfying long drive. An interesting and challenging round. I will definitely be back and looking forward to trying some more James Braid designed courses. Love the little touch with the bunker rake stands by the way.
