We pride ourselves on being a down-to-earth family friendly pub with excellent food and drink. There are some changes in place and we have spent a long time getting everything ready so we can welcome you in to a safe and clean environment. We have carried out extensive risk assessments and put procedures and systems in place to ensure both customers and our safety during the pandemic.
Due to the fluid nature of the changes we are constantly adapting and improving the systems, so if you have any concerns either before you come to visit or during your visit, please don't hesitate to ask one of the team who will only be to happy to assist and help you. We are working with slightly smaller team than usual, so please bear with us if there is a bit of a delay in the speed of your service.

Services
The bar stocks a wide range of spirits, liqueurs and wines. We serve a wide range of draught ales, including a seasonal ale from Stroud Brewery made just down the road from us. We also have a wide range of lagers and ciders on tap, and a substantial range of soft and alcoholic drinks. We serve traditional English pub food, high quality but at reasonable prices.
Our restaurant is a relaxed and friendly place to have lunch or an evening meal. We serve a large range of starters, main courses and desserts, where the emphasis is on quality food at reasonable prices. All the meals are prepared by the team of experienced chefs, ensuring that everything is done to make your meal as enjoyable as possible.
We aim to offer the standards and cleanliness that we have all come to expect when staying away from home. All of our rooms have flat screen TVs, free WiFi, and tea/coffee making facilities. Griffins : Standard Twin with private bathroom ( this is not attached to the room and is across a small landing).
Stroud was once at the heart of the busy wool trade with mills lining the canals and main roads. Only a few remain today, but the rooms at The Clothiers Arms are all named after our local heritage. The town centre is only a quarter of a mile away. Stroud has unique independent traders and small open-air markets that supplement the larger High Street shops, making wandering the town an enjoyable experience.

We stayed here for a weekend whilst visiting Stroud with friends. The staff are really welcoming and checked us in very quickly and took us to rooms upstairs.
Room was quite spacious with ensuite with shower. Good night sleep so bed was obviously good.
The breakfast is served 8 to 10am and you can just show up rather than pre-book. The scrambled eggs on toast was delicious, but full English also available.
The bar was a little cold but they served a great pint of Butcombe which made up for the chill.

We had a really lovely one night stay at The Clothiers Arms. The quadruple room was perfect, so clean and big with a lovely bathroom including a bath and shower. The food was delicious, especially the full English breakfast. Friendly staff and a great atmosphere. Large carpark and outdoor seating with a little playground for children. Highly recommend.

I really hate to be the first to say my experience was horrible.
20 minute wait for a menu, further 15 minutes to get order taken and because we ordered Lamb as well as Salmon we had to wait an additional 15 minutes for the Lamb. ugh!
The meat was dry, no gravy or sauce on the Salmon just a chunk of fish plopped on the plate with a couple of overly hard potatoes and a piece of parsley.
I will say they were busy. there were plenty of staff, enough so that several were standing about and gossiping. The lack of service, poor food quality and gossiping staff were a huge put off. Won't be returning
