If it's chocolate-box charm you're after, your cup will overflow when you visit The Cotswolds. The most enchanting part of the green and pleasant land of The Cotswolds is the peaceful, bucolic Painswick Valley, a few miles north of the Gloucestershire town of Stroud. This is an idyllic place to immerse yourself in the countryside that was immortalised by the poet and author Laurie Lee in the chronicle of his childhood, "Cider with Rosie".
The county town, Gloucester, boasting 2,000 years of history and famed for its beautifully preserved Victorian waterfront on what is England's most inland port, is well worth exploring if you are staying in the Stroud valleys and hankering for a spot of city life.
Don't miss a visit to the imposing Gloucester Cathedral in the city centre, where you may recognise the fan-vaulted medieval cloisters if you're a Harry Potter fan because scenes in the hit movie series were filmed there.

If you've worked up an appetite with a Sunday stroll around Painswick, or a brisk walk through the beautiful Slade Valley, where better to end up for Sunday lunch than the cosy, iconic Edgemoor Inn - a traditional country pub famed for fantastic food, a warm welcome and spectacular views. Locals and visitors alike are usually surprised at our eclectic menu, but of course on Sundays the main draw is a traditional Sunday roast.

It is situated in a Beautiful spot in the small.villagecof Edge near Painswick and Stroud. plenty of parking. wonderful views over the Cotswolds. The food is delicious,a great menu and excellent service. It is… also spotlessly clean and tables spaced well apart. My favourite choice of venue in Gloucestershire. No loud music or TV. Relaxing atmosphere

My wife and I had dinner booked here as part of our honeymoon. We were staying in Edge and as this was the only pub within reasonable walking distance we had it booked so we could walk down and have a couple of drinks and something to eat.
When booking we were told as we had a dog we couldn’t sit inside but there was seating outside with umbrellas. Fine by us!
It had been raining on and off throughout the day and on arrival we saw that none of the umbrellas had been put up so the tables and chairs were wet from the rain.
When I went in I told them we’d arrived for our booking and asked where
