A lovely two-night stay in Eskdale for the first time. The food was excellent and the service too. We were in the Wasdale Room which was very clean and comfortable with character and a lovely bathroom. The hotel has a drying room for walking boots which was handy. The bar had a great mix of locals and tourists and a fun quiz on Sunday night at 5.30pm. Thank you all.

First off the staff here were exceptional in every way. Friendly and accommodating to the very last detail and we were a party of 10 which isn’t easy.
The food was delicious, everyone one of us couldn’t praise the food enough. I had the Moroccan lamb pudding which was sensational especially with the little pot of gravy heaven that accompanies it.
Inside it is a wonderful old style pub with low ceilings and lower beams which give it a cosy feel and with the fire on I didn’t want to leave. The other side of the building is more modern and looks inviting.
I can’t wait to be in the area

We stopped here for lunch, whilst driving in the area. We didn't pre-book and there were tables available, however the restaurant was fully booked for the evening. The staff were friendly and welcoming, providing a good service. Dogs are permitted both inside and out. The food was excellent and plentiful. There's a spacious car park adjacent to the pub, with a short walk from the car park across fields, should you wish to stretch your legs. An excellent place to stop.

Didn't stay but stopped here for a meal on our way back after a long days walking. Plenty of parking, warm, inviting and friendly attentive staff. Food couldn't be faulted- by far the best we had in the area. And the view sitting outside? Can't be beaten. Would highly recommend. From the look of the rooms it's definitely on our list for a stay next time we are in the area!

Fantastic little Pub/hotel in a quiet part of the Lake District. The staff are fabulous and if you get to know them and the Landlird James(Marsh) he's got some great stories to tell and the way he tells them… ,makes them. Great food, plenty each serving, good selection of cask beers, friendly lovable place. Definitely coming back again to this Jewel in the Lakes. 5 straa from us, Dave and Geunor.
