Called in to look at purchasing an expensive e-bike. I’d previously bought a good hybrid bike from their Lee-on-the-Solent store last year, and was inclined to purchase from one or other again, as local to me.
The Assistant was fairly helpful until I asked if I could sit on the bike I liked (in-store) to decide if that size was correct.
He bluntly told me “No, not unless you’re going to commit to buy it”’. I asked why, and he said “I’d have to disinfect it afterwards because of COVID, and that is time-consuming”.
Somewhat taken aback I asked what that meant for having a short

I needed some advise about buying a bike for my 5YO boy. The chap on site took the time to talk me through some of the options and make a smart choice. I was very pleased with the service and my boy was very pleased with his bike.
I decided to by a new one for myself, as mine is 20 years old and now the boy is getting into it I am spending more time on a bike. Repeat performance for me - very helpful and knowledgeable in helping me make the right choices.
No fuss made when I booked it in for the 6 weeks services (offered free of charge with each new bike) despite it being closer to 3 months.

Rude Rude Rude.... my partner and I went this afternoon with the intention of walking out with 2 bikes, when invited in the shop was asked if I needed a service or fix or something? i said just wanted a quick look at the marlin and other possibilities with the intention of buying and was told the marlin was sold, no other cheap bikes available (assuming i had a budget which i did not) no browsing and ushered out... not very smart business wise if you ask me.... I never do these reviews but this time I thought I would back up the other negative comments and verify they are 100% justified. Silly

DO NOT BUY FROM THIS SHOP
The service after you have spent £3600 with them is very poor. They glued my cable insert in to the frame and left glue all over the frame looking like a bodge . Also had problems with sealed bearings, they seizing up and tried to suggest this was because of me cleaning my bike too well , but I have had many bikes of this spec and have always used them in all weathers and then cleaned them well and pushed the water out of all the normal pivot point with gt85. Then the last straw - when the frame cracked and two staff members tell you it will be warranty repair but then

DO NOT SUPPORT THIS LOCAL SHOP. Horrible customer service. Treated like I didn't exist and was rushing me out of the store to see the next customer who was paying for and picking up a bike! I went in and told them I had upto £3000 to spend on a bike, I just wanted some advice. They could have sold me anything, I was a blank cheque for their business!
Instead I was spoken down to like a knew nothing and wasn't worth their time. Outrageous for someone who is a novice to cycling and trying to get into the sport.
I will now happily drive to Portsmouth or Southhampton to take my business elsewhere
