Every day General Practice staff across the UK suffer abuse from the very people they are trying to help #TheAbuseMustStop. If you require urgent medical assistance which cannot wait until the surgery opens, please call 111. It is a requirement for patients to wear a face covering when entering the surgery.
If you do have an appointment we would be grateful if you could come with your face covering on. This can be in the form of a mask, scarf, handkerchief or any sort of fabric. Talbot Medical Centre is located in Stanley Street, off Boldon Lane in the Tyne Dock area of South Shields. We are a 5 doctor practice - 2 male and 3 female GPs all of whom cover morning and afternoon surgeries.

Services
As a team we will continually strive to provide the best quality, holistic health care we are able, putting patients at the heart of what we do. That everyone we encounter through our work (patient, relative or colleague) should be treated with compassion, dignity and respect and that they deserve to be listened to.
We offer pre-booked telephone appointments within surgery time. Many patients find this more convenient if the issue can be discussed and assessed over the telephone. We can arrange for prescriptions to be sent to a pharmacy ready for collection. If you are more than 15 minutes late for your appointment, you will be required to make another appointment; this is to prevent further delays to the doctor's schedule.
If you get regular prescriptions the Electronic Prescription Service (EPS) may be able to save you time by saving you unnecessary trips to your GP. Repeat prescriptions can be ordered by handing order forms in at reception, by telephone or by our 24 hour online ordering service. Repeat prescriptions will be processed in 2 working days; please ensure you order your medication in adequate time.
If you require transport to hospital appointments for medical reasons, please contact 0191 301 7687 to arrange this booking. Our Practice Nurses hold Chronic Disease clinics during the week. These appointments are for patients with Diabetes, Heart Disease, Respiratory Disease, Hypertension and Epilepsy.
Charlotte has worked as a GP in the practice since 2005. She also has a role as a tutor at Newcastle University and teaches medical students both at the university and in the practice. She is kept busy looking after her 3 young children outside of work and also enjoys walking and running when time allows.

My mother has moved out of the catchment area and at the age of 74 has to find a new
GP. She has been with this practice all of her life. I think the NHS allowing this to happen to elderly people is cruel.
She hasn't moved too far away, 5 minutes by car from surgery to her front door, we timed it.
The rules though isn't it? Surgeries are supposed to be patient driven but doing this proves that to be a lie.
I've been with this surgery for years too. Took 5 doctors two years to work out my hair loss is partly due to vitamin D deficiency. One doctor mistook my dad's heart attack for heartburn
