The Gate House is a privately run guest house, adjacent to The Forest Gate Inn. It is situated on the edge of Epping Forest on Bell Common, just over 1/2 mile to Epping town centre and 1 mile from Epping Station [40 minutes to central London]. It is ideally situated for walkers with facilities to dry wet gear, and well centred for visiting Cambridge, Audley End and other places of interest.
The house is totally No Smoking as well as having a full fire alarm system in place. As well as a breakfast room there is a sitting room for the use of guests, with books, board games and information on the area. The bedrooms are all decorated and furnished to a high standard all with en-suite facilities and flat screen televisions, tea and coffee making facilities.

Such a lovely stay. Spotless, comfortable room, lovely breakfast, (we had a continental but you can have a full English), superb proprietor. There is also a wonderful proper old English pub with fabulous home cooked food on the same site and a fine dining restaurant- packages available. Will definitely be back.

I stayed with my Mum and bridesmaids at The Gate House the night before our wedding at Gaynes Park.
I'd found The Gate House on Google maps as I wanted to stay somewhere close by and this was only a 6 minute drive!
As a keen and organised Bride, I visited Jane over a year before our wedding to check out The Gate House and found it to be perfect for what we needed. Enough rooms for all of us and a living room and dining area space for hair and make up in the morning.
Jane was amazing to communicate with leading up to the wedding - as we also decided to book the rooms for some guests for the night

We stayed at the The Gate House B&B which is in the same yard as the Haywards restaurant, It was clean quiet and the cooked breakfast in the morning was lovely(just be aware it's a set cooked breakfast).. we had the package with accommodation and the three course A la carte...
The food was simply delicious and full of flavour the service was attentive but not intrusive, we were served several amuse-bouche throughout the meal all with distinctive flavours to compliment the meal..the staff were really friendly and nice and the ambience in the restaurant was just right...
It was a lovely birthday

Had a very comfortable stay at The Gate House, sat nav took me straight there. Ample car park too but it was a Tuesday night. The breakfast was fantastic, fruit and yogurt followed by a full English, the extra £5 was well worth it. Jane was on hand to top up tea, coffee and anything else we wanted. Would thoroughly recommend the Gate House and will stay again. There is also a pub next door serving food and a restaurant on the same complex so no need to trail around to find a meal.
