Publishing Scotland is a registered charity governed by a main Board of Trustees (currently eleven in number). Our team is based in Edinburgh and works for and with our members to promote publishing in Scotland. Services
Our Work in Publishing pages provide information about types of publishers and publishing jobs, and advice on getting a job in publishing. This specialist literary consultancy for writers of children's and Young Adult fiction is seeking to expand its pool of freelance editors. Students, young publishers and anyone involved in books are invited to apply to be on one of four shadow panels.
Our publisher members publish in a wide variety of genres. You can search the list by the main categories but each member's profile gives a fuller overview as well as links to their website and contact details. Publishing Scotland requires its publisher members to adhere to its Code of Practice in all dealings with their authors: Publishers Members Code of Practice (PDF).
The network membership category is open to institutions, service providers such as agents and freelancers, proof-readers and editors who deal with creative content and/or supply publishers with goods or services. It also includes non-publishing libraries, museums, galleries, heritage and other organisations, literary agents, companies and individuals working in the literary and artistic sectors in Scotland.
Publishing Scotland requires its Publisher Members to adhere to its Code of Practice in all dealings with their authors. There may be instances which breach our member Code of Conduct, such as non-payment of royalties due, or failing to revert rights correctly. The complaints procedure can be invoked only after attempts to resolve the dispute with the member have failed.
