Greengables is an independent preschool based in Central Primary School right in the heart of the community of Carrickfergus. Established in the 1980s, we have grown from a small playgroup setting into a highly accomplished preschool with two morning classes ranging in age from 2 years 10 months to 4 years.

Greengables is an independent preschool based in Central Primary School right in the heart of the community of Carrickfergus. Established in the 1980s, we have grown from a small playgroup setting into a highly accomplished preschool with two morning classes ranging in age from 2 years 10 months to 4 years.
As we are unable to have our traditional Open Night this year, we have created two short videos that will show you a small snapshot of some of the learning and adventures we get up to during our time in Greengables.

As part of January's home learning, our book of the month is 'We're Going On A Bear Hunt', which has lots of opportunities for repetitive words, phrases and sounds! Encourage your child to say the words with you and take part in the actions. If you have the book at home, take time to look at the pictures together and maybe get some Teddy Bears out to join in the adventure and help re-enact the story!
As part of this week's home learning, our story focus is on 'The Three Little Pigs ' and there are lots of activities in your pack to support this. The children can get creative decorating, gluing and sticking their own houses and pigs to use as story props to help them retell the story in their own words!
As part of February's home learning, our book of the month is 'The Gingerbread Man' and we have sent lots of activities, that we hope your child will really enjoy, to support this. As with our previous stories, encourage your child to join in, they may already be familiar with the Gingerbread Man's well know phrase Run, run as fast as you can.

My son did a year here before school, he absolutely loved it! The leaders are brilliant. Kind and caring and helpful when your child is having an off day! They have an outside play area, with plenty of stuff to entertain them. It's inside Carrickfergus Central Primary school so it's great if you child is going to Central as they are already used to the environment and have seen the staff on a regular basis.
