The Salisbury Museum
Salisbury Museum is based in the King's House, a grade I listed building located opposite Salisbury Cathedral. We have a small but friendly staff, supported by over 200 volunteers. We offer a variety of services, including the opportunity to hire this unique location for corporate events and activities.

The King's House is a unique and atmospheric medieval building opposite Salisbury Cathedral. Salisbury and South Wiltshire Museum was founded by Dr Richard Fowler in 1860 and was for many years located in St Ann's Street in the city. There is a small but friendly staff supported by volunteers largely drawn from the 2,200 strong museum membership.

Good amount of information, some part of the area has modern design but parts of it are quite old and an odd odour. Happy with the price as paid with student and NHS discount. Interesting gift shop too.

A lovely museum and gallery in a beautiful setting on the cathedral square. There are some excellent exhibitions held here and the current one of British wood engraving prints is particularly good.
There is an excellent cafe/ restaurant with outdoor seating overlooking Salisbury cathedral.

I showed up late and Kara was very nice charged less than full price and said maybe you should hit the highlights? Called over the very knowledgeable Roger who gave me a personal tour. It was outstanding! Highly recommend this museum especially to add more insight to your Stonehenge experience.

The immense expanse of time that the area of Salisbury was occupied by the various stages of human development starting from the Paleolithic age, and represented by archeological artifacts displayed by this Museum is astonishing. Well worth a visit if you are interested paleontology.

Not as big as we'd hoped but still well worth a visit. Staff are very friendly. We were able to just pop in with no pre booking needed. All very Covid safe plus little interactions for the children.

Welcome return of Festival of Archaeology! Great museum with local history and a strong focus on the prehistory importance of the area. Resting place of the Amesbury Archer and other well presented archaeological finds. Also home to the Rex Whistler archive, with a few works on permanent display.
