Horsepower Museum The King's Royal Hussars
Explore objects from the 14th/20th King's Hussars which are now on display in the Museum. The 14th/20th King's Hussars collection is now part of HorsePower and will be part of the planned museum redesign in the near future. Visitors to HorsePower Museum may wonder why there are no exhibits devoted to The 14th/20th King's Hussars and its predecessor regiments.

Its collection used to be displayed in the Museum of Lancashire in Preston until it was closed. The collection was then moved to our store in Winchester and we are working behind the scenes to display it as an integral part of the story of The King's Royal Hussars. Once our re-design plans are confirmed and funding is available, we will post regular updates on this site and social media.

During his recovery he claimed that cheese saved his life and after meeting with Queen Victoria she made sure he was well looked after! John Breese's origins are somewhat mysterious. According to his service record when he enlisted he was a 'boot tree maker' born in the parish of Saint Sidwells, Exeter, Devonshire.
The collection of the 14th/20th King's Hussars is now held by HorsePower the Museum of The King's Royal Hussars. For the first time the collections of all predecessor regiments of the King's Royal Hussars are combined in one Museum. Whilst we are working to update our main displays a temporary exhibition will showcase a selection from the 14th/20th King's Hussars collection and will be rotating objects from across nearly 300 years of history.

A fantastic regimental museum in the heart of the old Peninsula Barracks. Some great artefacts from Waterloo, the charge of the light brigade all the way through to the present.

I decided to make a trip to Winchester on the 4th September 2018. Winchester is a city and the county town of Hampshire, England. It is situated about 61 miles south west of London and around 13 from Southampton which is its closest city. Winchester developed from the Roman town of Venta Belgarum. The city is, home to the University of Winchester and Winchester College, the oldest public school in the United Kingdom still using its original buildings. There is so much to see here in this fine city and spending a day here you would find it difficult to cover all the famous sites. I then walked up

Closed, no notification of closure and travelled from Manchester as part of a family trip. Regimental old comrade, very disappointed.
