Services
All appointments for Doctors and Nurse Practitioners are first screened via Ask My GP then allocated either a phone call, video consultation, email or face to face. In a number of cases it might be worth considering an appointment with a Practice Nurse rather than a doctor. Practice nurses are qualified to deal with many ailments and you may be seen more quickly.
If possible please try to telephone or contact Ask My GP via reception before 11:00 if you require a home visit. These are normally carried out at the end of morning surgery. You may only request a home visit if you are housebound or are too ill to visit the practice. Your GP will only visit you at home if they think that your medical condition requires it and will also decide how urgently a visit is needed.
You do not require a doctor's sickness certificate for any illness lasting seven days or less. If you are sick for more than seven days, your employer can ask you to give them some form of medical evidence to support payment of SSP (statutory sick pay). It is up to your employer to decide whether you are incapable of work.
This difficult decision has been made because it is becoming increasingly difficult to store prescriptions below the legal upper temperature limit specified by Public Health. All medications, from Friday, will be available to collect from our Heckington site, where they are stored in an air conditioned environment.
If you need regular medication for a stable long-term health condition, your GP can prescribe a maximumsupply of three months. Please do not ask the surgery for longer than three months. If you're taking a course of medication that will finish during your holiday, then get advice from your GP. They may be able to give you a repeat prescription.
