The atmosphere was nice but that's about it. Service was very slow and food stuff come out they consistently brought out our 3-year-old's food last.
Food was below average (my chicken katsu burger was mostly bun and a bland sauce). The bread with butter "nibbles" didn't have any butter, the mixed fruit crumble with ice cream was a bland apple crumble with a teaspoon of ice cream. The children's ice cream was a pot (as stated on the menu) but somehow this came out last - in fact they served food to an adjacent table before coming back to ours with my child's ice cream.
After a LONG and bland meal

Nice looking pub, but had a ploughmans which I felt was very overpriced. The menu states that you may add ham or sausage for £2, however waitress asked which I wanted, saying it was included..its not. For this much money £15.95 I would expect a good quality Brie and Cheddar, both were completely tasteless, as was the ham. Even the salad dressing had absolutely no flavour at all. We ordered spiced parsnip soup recommenfed as very good, it was broccoli and stilton when it arrived.

The food was yummy and loads of it.
They were happy to sort our birthday cake for us and sang happy birthday with us.
The young waitress was great and very patient with us all.
Thankyou for a great birthday lunch

Love this place. We broke down in our car outside one bank holiday in August and whilst waiting for the car to cool down we popped in to the pub for a bite to eat. We'll what can I say, they had a band playing in the huge garden that was full, an excellent play area for the kids, the food was amazing we stayed for 6 hours 😉😋😁 Every year we go back now on the bank holiday. I would definitely recommend this place. Booking is required at the mo because of covid but we did go with out booking and they squeezed us in. Staff are very cheerful and helpful and work very hard so tip well folks

Can't fault them. Food was perfect. Pints too. Great service, just the right amount of service from a very polite young chap. Only found one toilet for the whole pub, maybe more elsewhere but missed them if so. Nice atmosphere. Ample parking if needed. Despite being right beside the a27 there was no road noise inside. Would recommend stopping if passing if local then get on out there.

I have downgraded this from a 5 star to a 2; we are a regular customer. The service has gone downhill massively; young teenage girls that don't have the experience to serve customers or deal with a complicated number of customers. The day we visited was not busy but service was still a shambles. The food was very disappointing; our salad was missing the main items but we still got charged full price and they didn't say anything when we complained. The added service charge was an insult. Sorry different pub next time; its a shame as handy location.

ABSOLUTELY AWFUL - I only wish no stars were an option!
We were a large group, and booked for a birthday lunch. We chose The Barley Mow as it had a large kid friendly garden and served a roast dinner, which was the requirement of the birthday lunch. We were told that as a large group we would need to pre book our food, which we did, 3 days before our booking.
We were sat outside and had 3 picnic tables, two of which were rickety and rocked when you sat at them. We asked for the parasol to be put up, as it was extremely hot and sunny that day and we could have done with the shade. ... It turned

I had the gluten free Korean chicken burger and the gluten free sticky toffee pudding. Both very nice and had a few options for me to choose from. The service was very good and it was a nice atmosphere.

A lovely pub serving good Harvey's. Good normal pub food, friendly atmosphere and lovely setting with a view of the South Downs. More tartar sauce needed on the fish-finger sandwich, though...

Great food and friendly staff. Lots of outdoor seating and a great kids play area with swings, a fort, monkey bars etc. Decent selection of roasts, including DF/ VG options, burgers, pasta and a separate kids menu. Nice selection of desserts - again with 2 DF and VG options. Even though the Barley Mow is on the 'main road', can honestly say that we didn't hear the road at all, as you're sat behind the pub. Plenty of parking.
