Oliver J. Knapman in association with his godfather Tom Clark, provide the only local, independent family-run Funeral Service within Teignmouth, Dawlish and surrounding areas. Oliver is well known in Teignmouth and his family have resided in the town for some 5 generations. Educated at Trinity School, he is also an active member of Teignmouth Beach Surf Lifesaving Club.

As well as the Funeral Directors Oliver and Tom, The Knapman Family are very much involved in the day-to-day running of the business. Oliver as an experienced funeral director along with his family endeavour to provide you and your family with the care, reassurance and guidance that is needed at what is a very difficult time and will strive to deliver continuity alongside a personal service.
At Oliver J. Knapman, we combine the benefits of a small, family run business like flexibility and attention to detail with the facility to cater for all special requests whether it is a particular choice of coffin or alternative transport such as a Horse-drawn hearse. We will always have the time to listen to families and understand their wishes in order to make each funeral as unique as the life that has been lived.
Aside from our own Ford Cardinal Hearse and Dorchester Limousine, we are also able to offer a variety of alternative funeral transport. Whether it is a horse-drawn hearse, a classic Daimler hearse and limousine, or even a Land Rover Defender hearse. We believe that families should have a choice for all elements of funeral arrangements.
Words cannot always express your feelings and emotions at such a difficult time but choosing the right floral tribute will often do it for you. We work with local florists to offer a wide range of tributes. From traditional coffin sprays to unique lettering, hearts, cushions and wreaths to add the final, loving touch.
Whether a death was expected or not, many people feel worried and unsure about what to do, most people find the death of a relative or close friend is a very unsettling experience. Those left behind have to come to terms with the loss as well as contend with the immediate practicalities and contacting a Funeral Director.

Oliver cared for my family following my Grandfather’s death in August. He was very professional, kind and caring and we could not have asked for more from him. He made sure Grandad looked pristine when I visited him in the Chapel of Rest (the best I’ve seen him looking in years!) and even opened the office on a Saturday especially for my visit. Oliver and his team went above and beyond to make sure the process and funeral was smooth and well organised for us. 5* service, would recommend.
