Whether your family member passes away at home or in a hospital or nursing home you will need the help and guidance of your Funeral Director. Services
When you are planning a crematorium or church service it is a good idea to have a think about favourite pieces of music or hymns, favourite readings or bible passages and have a brief outline and history of your loved one's life written down as a tribute for the service. The minister or celebrant will visit you and will want to know your choices of readings and music.
Our brochure below represents a guide to the most traditional style of floral tributes. Prices are flexible and can be adjusted to make each arrangement larger or smaller to suit your budget. Due to seasonal variations some flowers may not be available but will be substituted with similar colours and flowers.
If you are researching funeral prices in Oxfordshire and wondering about the likely cost of a funeral we would ask you to please send us an email via our 'Contact Us' page.

Please let us know what sort of arrangements you are thinking of (for example: burial or cremation, church service or crematorium service only, would you like limousines, newspaper notices, flowers etc) and we will be happy to provide you with a detailed estimate of expenses and a copy of our price list.
The first priority for any family after a bereavement is to register the death at a local Registrar's Office. Registering the death is the official notification to the authorities that a death has occurred. It allows you to begin the various legal processes such as probate and it allows a funeral to be planned.
If you scroll down the page you can also find out more about our Abingdon branch and its history. Tonks Funeral Directors Abingdon office is based in Abingdon on Thames, the historic market town set in rural Oxfordshire. Tonks Brothers were outstanding providing a personal service without any fuss. Ben and Emma Rose were both fantastic and ensured my Mum got the send off she deserved. Nothing was too much trouble flowers, video show, extra pages in order of service. I found them to be super caring, respectful and considerate. I would definitely recommend them.

I cannot be thankful enough to Tonks Brothers for arranging the funeral of my brother in law. From calling them to the end of the funeral Tonks Brothers has provide us with an impeccable service. The staff are very professional and patient. They know their job inside and out. We were informed and they explained to us everything which will happen at the funeral. Ben who has gone an extra mile. He made a video clip of the funeral. “Danny boy song” as the background music. This has been particular helpful as due to Covid 19 not many of us were able to attend the service. I highly recommend them

Extremely experienced and professional team led by Ben Tonks. From my first phone call after my father's death, to collecting the body, to the funeral itself, everything was managed in a very dignified and sensitive manner. They were extremely responsive to our requirements under trying conditions (covid19 lockdown) but still managed to get everything done perfectly and in a rapid timescale.
When you need to use such a service you're probably going to be fairly stressed anyway so it's best to hire people who have the knowledge, facilities and most of all experience to make that final journey a

You know what families are like... spats between siblings etc. Ben Tonks was able to handle the families differing views with sensitivity and organise and conduct my mothers funeral with complete professionalism. A delightful man and a delightful organisation – steering you through what must be done in your time of grief. To finish, his thoughtfulness extended to delivering mums ashes in person when he was passing by.
Thank you Tonks Brothers 🙏

We recently used Tonks for a funeral of our father and from first contact with Tonks and throughout the whole process we found them to be very professional, sensitive and happy to accommodate of all of our needs. They did not try to upset anything, and their main aim was to provide a service suited to our needs which they did perfectly. Their sensitive and professional attitude helped tremendously during such a difficult time.
