Well behaved dogs are welcome on leads in the outdoor areas; woodland walk, zoological gardens, tea room patio. They are not allowed in the shop, tea room, steak house and tropical house. We have been farming using traditional methods for over a century. Our passion is to provide local produce, with the highest quality in flavour, variety and freshness.

We are one of the few farm shops who provides a wide variety of home produced meats, which continues to grow year on year. We encourage our customers to educate themselves about how we rear our animals by allowing access to the farm and the zoo, so they can see for themselves what sets us apart.
Services
Our family have farmed using traditional methods for over a century (we are the 4th generation) in Old Hurst, Cambridgeshire. The carbon intake from the 12.5 acres of established woodland and 164 acres of permanent pasture, on which we graze our own herds of cattle, deer and buffalo surpasses the output of carbon from our business.
We have a whole host of pasties, pies, potted meats and homemade meals, perfect for grabbing lunch on the go or putting in the freezer for a quick and easy dinner. Our bread is suuplied from Woods Bakery in Biggleswade, who are an old family business that produces bread in the traditional way. Our ready prepeared meat pies take the hassle out of home made, without the worries of fast food loaded with sugar and preservatives.
As the sucess of the deli has increased, we are able to offer our customers exceptional hams and cooked meats, corned beef, traditional brawn, potted meat, scoch eggs, haslet and homemade meals. We began producing these traditional recipes in 2009 and they have proved a big hit with out customers. We use cured silverside beef in our corned beef recipe to make in leaner and more flavoursome.
The Johnson family have farmed and reared livestock in Old Hurst since 1899. Our passion for outstanding quality and sustainable British produce, coupled with a forward-thinking approach to modern farming, is what gives our family company a unique edge. The business consists of a well-stocked Farm shop and Butchers.

Absolutely fantastic.
The place is brilliant for a day visit with everything from a good cup of coffee and cake to picking up soom very tasty meat not to mention that you can see some great animals including crocodiles on your travels around the place.
This place really comes into its own though in the steak house. Wow one of the best meals we've had in a long time. Everything was so fresh and cooked so well, staff were great and so friendly. Couldn't recommend enough... not saying its the cheapest place but not over priced especially for the quality you get.
Adding to this review now as I had

Great place for small and big (adult) kids 😊. There are Wallabys, Puma, Crocodiles/Aligators, goats, donkeys, parrots, macaws, Black swans, meerkats, ostriches, turtles, snakes, tortoises, cows, deer and more. Also a butchers, a steak restaurant, cafe, shop and more.
It is also free to get in. They only ask that you don't take food/picnics and purchase food on site.

Free entrance to the Zoological gardens, woodland walk, plus there's a great farm & gift shop including a fine butchers. The animals look well cared for and there seems to be work in progress to increase the enclosures with a larger tropical crocodile house.

The animals were fantastic. What a wonderful place to visit. We then went and had a look around the farm shop that had lots of wonderful things. We then had dinner in the restaurant. Good size children's portion and the fillet steak was incredible, best steak I have had in a long while. Really amazing restaurant too. Lots of interesting things to look at.
