Services
The early years of a child's life matter when it comes to lifelong health. What they eat, and the habits they develop around food when they're young, set the pattern for the rest of their lives. All our food is produced fresh daily on site, and we pride ourselves on using seasonal produce.

We appreciate how busy our parents are so we also offer parents the option to order in the morning if they would like to have a pre-prepared dinner to take home when they pick up.
NVQ Level 2, NVQ Level 3, Level 3 and 5 in Management of Early Years or an Overseas Diploma (equivalent or higher). We have a rigorous interview process and trust that all our staff bring with them dedication and experience to their roles. Staff have completed Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) checks and joined the updates service; which keeps their DBS live and up to date.
We follow the Early Years Foundation Stage. Children will develop at their own pace and each child's development is closely monitored and the Curriculum is applied accordingly. Every child is a unique child, who is constantly learning and can be resilient, capable, confident and self-assured.

Children learn and develop well in enabling environments, in which their learning responds to their individual needs and there is a strong partnership between teachers and parents and or carers.Children develop and learn in different ways and at different rates. The framework covers the education and care of all children in the early years provision, including children with special educational needs and disabilities.
All children will have a Learning Journey documenting their development. It is related to the children's Individual Learning Plan (ILP) and observations of your child. We use an online package, which parents can access to see their child's observations, photographs, correspondence, next steps and communicate directly with their key worker.
At Smithfield House Children's Nursery we are working towards several accreditation's which we hope to achieve by the end of 2021. Below is a list of external accreditations we are working towards.

Millie's Mark - Millie's Mark will be awarded as a special endorsement to childcare providers that go above and beyond minimum requirements by having 100% of staff trained in paediatric first aid, and also ensuring that everything learned during the course is kept alive and in the forefront of practitioners' minds so that they are confident, ready and capable.
