Welcome to Mildmay Community Nursery, where children and families are valued and welcomed for their individuality. We have been providing a fun and stimulating educational environment since 1986. A community Nursery is set up by the local community for the local community. Parental involvement in every aspect of planning and running the Nursery is essential in order to reflect the community's needs as accurately as possible.
We strongly believe parents have knowledge and experience that should be recognised and used effectively. At Mildmay we try to foster a collaborative environment where staff, parents and children can work together for the good of all concerned. Rainbow room provides a large, well-lit space for up to nine babies from six months to two years old.

Services
Our team consists of a nursery manager, deputy manager, ten practitioners, lunch time cover staff and a cook. Early Years Professional Status, BA in Early Childhood, Qualified Teacher Status, Foundation Degree in Early Childhood Studies and NVQ Level 3 in Childcare and Education. The nursery operated a key person/co- key person system, where each child is assigned a key member of staff, who holds a special responsibility for that child.
It is important that your child attends Nursery at a suitable time, in order for them to achieve the most out of the Nursery day. We recommend arriving before 10.30am, when the morning activities start. The nursery closes at 4pm, alternating Tuesday and Thursday - once a month, in order for staff meetings to take place.
We offer 22 community places for Islington residents and 7 marketed places for families who are out of borough. The only difference in these places are the waiting list and fees. Community fees are set by Islington Council and are based on your gross household income. Please refer to the fee structure attached for further information.
Promoting learning and development through a broad and balanced range of adult-led and child initiated play opportunities. Our aim is to provide a fun and stimulating environment that encourages children to develop fundamental skills such as confidence, language and independence. We believe that all children deserve the best possible start in life, in order for them to fulfil their potential.
At Mildmay Community Nursery, we believe that the British Values are intrinsically linked to our own values of respect, resilience and independence. We believe in a holistic approach to the teaching of values and understand that they are not simply taught; they have to be lived through the nursery's ethos and values.

Report
This nursery is an absolute gem. I can't recommend them highly enough. Mildmay nursery is a wonderful large family. Lots of noise, colour and love, welcoming you in. The staff go beyond the usual care for each child. They get to know them. Their likes and dislikes, nurturing their characters and give them space to be themselves, whether they're a drama lover, astronaut or a book worm. My son went to Mildmay for over 2 years. We only left because we moved but we still miss the nursery family. As a family you become part of the bigger family. They're very open and encourage parental involvement as
