Services
We are confident that all visitors to our nursery feel welcome and enjoy visiting us and utilising the services on offer. Below is a list of staff members who make this happen. Visitors first point of contact is likely to be Jo our nursery administrator who answers the main phone line. Jo will assist you answering any queries that you may have.
In our Baby Unit we have 15 children altogether between the two rooms, 9 in yellow room and 6 in red room, our ratio is 1:3 in these rooms. We have 1 room leader who manages the day to day running of this unit. The rooms work together and the Practitioners in both rooms will know all of the children and their individual needs.
The Green Room children are aged on average between 3 and 5 years. In the green room, the ratio is 1:8 or 1:13 depending on the qualifications of the staff with the children at the time and the room leader ensures ratios are kept through the day. This room operates slightly differently to the other rooms as the children are at a different stage of learning.
Famly is the software program that the nursery uses to support families in the setting, right from your initial communication with the setting you will become familiar with how it works. Within this software will be all the information we hold about you and your family, financial information as well as your child's development journal and assessments.
This curriculum involves a planned environment for the children planning their environment areas rather than the activities the children do, to allow for individual choice. The children have constant opportunities throughout the day to explore and investigate in all the different areas dependent on their current interests.

Both of my children attended this nursery over a period of 4 years and I can’t recommend it highly enough. HCN provides a perfect blend between a child-led, nurturing and relaxed environment without compromising on organisation, safety and security. We were especially impressed with the rigorous systems the nursery put in place during the pandemic allowing my youngest daughter to continue her developmental journey in the Green Room and providing much needed relief to us as working parents. The staff are really excellent - my daughters had a close bond with their key people but they were also

Both of my children, 6 years apart, spent their entire preschool attending this nursery - so I have over a decade of REAL experience of the quality of care provided.
The growth and development this nursery gave our children in their formative years has stayed with them and shaped who they are, so we will always be grateful.
I'm moved to write this as I noted other reviews that I believe to be questionable, I think anyone who sees fit to criticise this nursery, whilst praising another nursery up the road may have motives beyond an honest review.

The staff really care about the children at this work place. The managers and all the ladies in the office are very helpful and attentive to parents' needs. Lovely huge nursery where the children are very happy and develop very well. It's a great nursery with a very good outdoor space which the children thoroughly enjoy. Everyone works very hard here and it's a great team.

Our son was at the nursery for 3.5yrs. The support, love and attention he received was second to none - and I ,hand on heart, can say this without exaggeration. The Highbury staff are true experts in their field, with each staff member bringing their own prowess to the mix. Wholly committed to the children day in day out, which shows so clearly in their behaviour and development over the years.

We had children in this nursery for 7 years and I can honestly say they became a home away from home. A progressive approach to childcare, and an ongoing ability to reflect on their practice meant that our children were taken care of in a way that was well researched and ultimately that worked! The garden at this nursery is magical, and the mix of well thought out play experiences alongside a very child led environment meant my children could develop and explore in a way that suited them. I never saw a practitioner walking around "overseeing" the children, the adults in this nursery get stuck in
