The Greenock Golf Club was founded in 1890 and is located in a commanding position high above the town. In 1924 that busiest of all Golf Course Architects, former open champion James Braid was invited to advise on reconstruction. Leased farmlands were duly purchased and an eighteen and a nine hole course were built, being completed in 1927.
The course is moorland with trees defining many of the fairways and it is to no exaggeration to say the views over the Clyde Estuary to the Argyll hills beyond are simply spectacular.

Greenock Golf Club is a private members club and you can be assured that we give a warm welcome to visitors and golf outings. You'll certainly enjoy our stunning views across the river Clyde whilst you play the course. Final numbers must be indicated at least 48 hours in advance of the outing otherwise the balance of green fees may not be returned.

Had a chance to play this course last year, and I cannot say enough good things about it. The course is excellently maintained, the members are friendly and inviting to new comers, the view as you work your way towards the higher elevation holes is gorgeous. If I even find myself in Greenock again, I will make sure to find the Greenock Golf Club.

Very disappointed took week off work as a new member of Greenock golf club that this weeks march medal is down as a non counter as the weather has been very good and dry all week. Played the course today and the course was very good and I do not understand why the course is to be played as a non starter.

First time playing the course in over twenty years, but really enjoyed it, very fair course , unfortunately a wee bit soft underfoot due to recent rain, greens a tad slow, but overall, a really enjoyable round of golf, with brilliant views, a thank you to the pro for a wee bit of advice on where to go, and what side to try not miss on
