Services
The practice remained a mixed practice treating farm animals, horses and small animals through the 1970s and 1980s until the demographic and economic pressures on farming resulted in a shift to small animal work only in 1990. Braid Veterinary Hospital was the first veterinary hospital to be registered in Scotland.
I studied at Vienna veterinary school and moved to the UK shortly after graduating in 1998. After short spells in the Yorkshire Dales, the Highlands and Edinburgh. In 2001 I joined the team at Clyde Veterinary Group and have worked there until my recent move to Braid Vets. I have a passion for surgery with a particular interest in orthopaedics, including the treatment of conditions such as anterior cruciate ligament disease.
Should you have an emergency outwith normal office hours, you can contact our 24 hour emergency service at our hospital at 171 Mayfield Road, Edinburgh called e-vets. This service is run for veterinary practices in and around Edinburgh and is staffed at all times by a Veterinary Surgeon and a fully qualified Veterinary Nurse.
This interactive questionnaire can help you understand your senior pet's health, and decide whether to arrange a consultation at Braid Vets. As a caring owner you'll know that healthy food, exercise, loving attention and an occasional treat are all your pet needs to live a happy life. Our pets reach a much greater age than they used to, so they can develop conditions comparable to human conditions, due to advancing age.
At Braid Vets we approach vaccination from an individual animal basis - we tailor protection to your pets needs. If you have any concerns regarding our vaccination protocols please feel free to discuss them at your pet's annual wellness examination. A free Veterinary checkup at 6 months of age and free Nurse check-ups at 9 and 12 months of age (puppies and kittens.).

We have had our cat sam for over a year with braids vets dalkeith. All the staff have been caring and kind towards him and the service they give is amazing. Always making time to see him promptly and trying to deal with his issues to help him the best they can. Could not recommend enough

Desk staff very friendly and polite. My issue is i was asked if i wanted to go ahead with vaccinations for my pets which i stated when i booked the appointment with no mention of price but i already looked around online and going price was £30 per pet though didn't find thier prices, went ahead and when i came to pay i was charged £93 per pet. Now me not asking first was on me but it's very unprofessional to provide a service without first explaining prices and worse still that it cost three times the going rate which points to the fact they never stated price being that they know it is bad.

I was with this vet practice because of their emergency service and the surgical department. Both my dogs came here and saw various vets over several years. One vet is really nice and gentle (tall guy, Michael) but the others I found lacking in areas such as communicating with people [I don't get the sense they enjoy what they do] and pets. One regularly insisted on putting a muzzle on my tiny dog that didn't have the jaw strength or teeth to harm him, which did nothing to calm her or ease her fears, he didn't seem to have the time or inclination to try other less stressful options

I would not give this vets one star even.
I had a dog with real fear aggression at the vets , they just used force to manhandle him and give him an injection. Then suggested I bring him in a few times a week for the staff to make a fuss of him. I did , but nobody took any notice of us , nor did anyone know what I was doing there.
The injection was the most expensive I have ever paid for. Double other local vets.
The waiting area is like a pet shop , and when I discussed diet with a vet all he wanted to do was sell me the food they have , my dog wouldn't touch it
When I asked for a worming
