Kay and Andy welcome you to their comfortable and well equipped self-catering properties in the tranquil and picturesque Eden Valley in Cumbria. Originally a 17th-century farmstead, Scalebeck nestles peacefully in the heart of the Eden Valley, just one mile from the pretty village of Great Asby, and 5 miles from the market town of Appleby-in-Westmorland.
The beauty of this area has recently been recognised formally as 'The Westmorland Dales National Park'. The Eden Valley is surrounded by the Lake District National Park to the west, Yorkshire Dales National Park to the south, the North Pennines Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty to the East, and the Scottish Borders and Hadrians Wall to the North.

There are lots of activities on offer in the Eden Valley and further afield. Most of our visitors come for walking, with plenty of choices from short strolls to 20 mile hikes to town trails. Others prefer cycling along the quiet lanes, horse riding across the fells or fishing. Cumbria is a paradise for walkers with plenty of options from Lake District mountains, to limestone escarpments and sweeping fell side views.
Some enterprising businesses that were offering takeaways during lockdown are continuing to do so (alongside indoor/outdoor seating). All need to be ordered in advance and a collection time agreed. The Three Greyhounds, Great Asby - fantastic fish and chips plus pies, burgers, pizzas etc (Fri, Sat, Sun).
