Low Way Farm
A family run Upper Teesdale working farm set between the River Tees and the near wilderness fells of the high Pennine Hills. Our summer hayfields contribute to the spectacular meadows for which Teesdale is renowned, providing the winter feed for our sheep. There can be few places offering such peace and tranquility yet an area which offers superb walking, fishing, canoeing, cycling, and other activities whilst retaining excellent local amenities.

The Pennine Way crosses our Farm to the North on the banks of the River whilst to the South the road from Middleton-in-Teesdale provides the access. Some 100 yards beyond our farm is the traditional country pub of the Strathmore Arms and the road it ends in the Strathmore Estates. Whether staying in one of our facilities or just visiting for an hour or two, enjoy a traditional meal with us.

A delightful detached cottage skilfully converted from an old stone barn and set in the corner of a beautiful sheep grazing/summer hayfield. The ideal situation for access to the River Tees via a short walk through our own private fields, then over a style to join the Pennine Way. Turn right for about 3 miles mainly by the river into Middleton-in-Teesdale, or alternatively turn left to Low Force, for about a 1 mile, then to High Force and beyond.
The "upside down" accommodation offers full avantage of the views of the Pennine fells and beyond. Take the short walk down the hill and enjoy the traditional country pub -The Strathmore Arms and a little further on the opposite side of the road is our Farmhouse Kitchen.

Upstairs is the living room with kitchen, dining and sitting areas with a flame effect electric stove.
This accomodation comprises 2 seperate field barns seperated only from the River Tees by our own field in which the barns stand, and the Pennine Way which passes on our side of the river bank. Turn left on the Pennine Way the short distance to Low Force which must be one of the countries most beautiful river bank walks.
Follow the track through our farm and over the hill, which leads down to the camping field. This is the ideal location from which to enjoy the River Tees or access to the fells which contribute to the stunning landscape of this lovely and peaceful area of Upper Teesdale. Relax in our Farmhouse Kitchen at Low Way Farm, or the local traditional country public house, the Strathmore Arms, just 100 yards or so up the road from our Farm.
The area is internationally renowned for its hay meadows and rare wild flowers. At the appropriate times of year this walk embraces beautiful hayfields and varieties of orchids and other native wild flowers. The Strathmore Arms is the ideal base for three of the finest upland reservoirs of Selset, Grassholme and Hury.
