The Stourbridge Navigation Trust
After a long and chequered history, The Bonded Warehouse is now a building serving the community for a wide range of functions and is available for hire for Wedding Receptions, Birthday Parties, Corporate Training and Evening Activity Clubs.

The 3 storey Warehouse with its unusual semi circular end, and with the earliest parts of the building dating from 1799 is situated in a lovely setting alongside the Stourbridge Town Arm Canal where a number of narrowboats are permanently moored.Hirers please note there is no wheelchair access to the upper floors.
Services
The Stourbridge Navigation Trust Committee is comprised of willing and able volunteers of a variety of ages, sex, experience and skills but with one thing in common and that is to 'look after' the Bonded Warehouse and the Stourbridge Town Arm to the very best of their ability.

I'm David Caunt, In 1983, as Mayor of Dudley, I attended the very first Open Weekend, the chauffeur collecting us from our boat at Stourbridge and taking us to Coalbourne Brook Bridge for a boat ride back to the Bonded Warehouse.
I was recently musing over a few old photographs taken in the vicinity of the Bonded Warehouse and especially one of a goods engine running on the opposite side of the canal towards the old goods yard - canals and railways in perfect harmony. I thought it might be worthwhile and of interest to our followers to compile a pictorial and historically factual article for the Trust's website about the area.
We were delighted to receive a new addition to our historical archive the other day, courtesy of Derek Gittins, a long time canal campaigner and one of the founder members of Dudley Canal and Tunnel Trust and author of many of their leaflets and books. It is understood that having retired from the Trust he has set about having a tidy up at home and is discovering all sorts of things!
Research undertaken by Amblecote History Society uncovered some potentially interesting material for further investigation into the background context behind the paper records - I was attracted to some photographs of what I guessed was the original inauguration of Joyner's Wharf - talking to colleagues down at the Bonded Warehouse has enable some meat to be placed on the bones.
We are grateful to the Amblecote History Society for finding a few remaining copies of this artwork - they were doing some historical research into the records archive at the Bonded Warehouse and came across a number of the limited edition prints, one of which, somewhat forgotten and faded by sunlight, still adorns the wall in the Stourbridge Navigation Trust Board room.

Fantastic venue for jazz every month with a great room and excellent facilities. No booze, which is a nice change, and overall a very civilised way to spend an evening listening to the very best in jazz.

The facilities are great, location great, ample parking. The only thing letting this venue down is all the stairs into the venue and having no lift.

Great food at the cafe upstairs during the Open Weekend. Told we might have to wait for food, but it arrived within five minutes! Beautiful food at a very reasonable price. Perfect ploughmans and wonderful cheesecake. Will always come back!

Beautifully restored building which is an important part of Stourbridge's local history, nowadays it is the gateway to many an enjoyable boat trip. On summer evenings you will often hear the music and laughter coming from a trip boat as it makes it way up the Stourbridge arm and back, as the revellers disembark back at the Bonded warehouse, the laughter and chatter echo's around Canal Street, giving an idea of the days when this would have been a vibrant, working part of thetown of Stourbridge. Keep your eyes open for the Stourbridge Boat Festival too, a gathering of Narrowboat's both historical

I used to enjoy visiting Canal Street and have used the Bonded Warehouse many times. Unfortunately they have now plastered the area with parking restriction signs claiming the territory as exclusively theirs, it makes it a very unwelcoming place as you are concerned about the restriction in 'their' area and are unsure as to whether you are allowed to stay there to go in the new pub after you've been to the BW.

Got there not knowing what to expect, but saw that it was a good place for meetings and training. The Bonded Warehouse is situated by the Stourbridge canal. Good size parking lot and good facilities. The one thing I did not see was wheelchair access. If interested in booking canal tours that's the place. If anyone has information about wheelchair access let others know please?
