Services
Elvington Medical Practice serves over 7,200 patients, within Elvington and neighbouring villages to the south east of York. The Practice prides itself on being a central and active part of the community and providing patients with a personal and professional service. There has been a medical presence in the village for nearly 200 years.
As far back as 1823 a surgeon apothecary called Thomas Gilmore was the first recorded medical practitioner in the village. Later in the 1820's William Dickson, surgeon, practised from Albion House, now Glen House, and he was succeeded by his son John Dickson in 1861. In 1881, surgeon Mr William von Beverhoudt, MRCS, LRCP, married Harriet Whittaker whose family lived at the Hall from where he practised.

Social prescribing plays a vital role in helping people with mental health conditions, guiding and connecting them to non-clinical services that can support them.
There are three ways to book an appointment at the Practice; online, by phone or in person at any of our two sites. The quickest and easiest ways to book are online or by phone. If you would like to use the on-line facility then you will need to register by visiting the practice in person with 2 forms of ID so the receptionist can grant you access.
