We went for a lunch on Saturday, I have to say it was all really very good.
The food was excellent, my only gripe was the spring greens had garlic in them and it wasn't to my taste, would have preferred just plain buttered greens.
The queenie scallops and the soup were delicious.
I had the suet steak pudding, the suet was so soft, amazing.
All the puddings were again excellent.
Service was fantastic, very attentive.
We live in Cheshire and it was definitely worth the drive.
Can't wait to go back!

The pub is In a great location. and has plenty of competition in the village we went mid week . the food was superb. as was the service we booked a superior room for the night that we found disappointing. the level of decoration was good . but the bathroom window would not shut. and there was a constant noise from a chiller unit that disturbed our sleep.. . would go again but not stay in the room we had.

Absolutely wonderful.. Three of us dined there tonight and after looking at the menu decided we would forgone the starters in favour of mains and sweet. We had the slow roast belly pork which melted in the mouth, steak pudding, filled with super tasty lean beef and mushrooms which was superb and our son had the higher buck burger which I'm told was so juicy and tasty. We finished up with a strawberry cheesecake, triple chocolate bar and the cheeseboard. All excellent choices. Very highly recommended.

Absolutely first class service and food, staff so professional warm and friendly. Perfect hospitality for enjoying a Sunday roast that was cooked to perfection and included a wide range of vegetables that were cooked with the same standard of care. Glazed parsnips and carrots, cauliflower cheese, mashed swede and green cabbage. Set against an enormous fluffy Yorkshire pudding, lashings of homemade gravy and succulent roast potatoes. How I managed the Eton Mess was purely down to the delightful presentation which tasted as amazing as it looked..10 gold stars

Love this place, going three times when we visited our home this summer and taking all family visitors. I would definitely recommend as the food and drinks are always excellent! I would have given the full 5 stars but the young guy who served us last didn't seem to have the level of people skills deserving of a place with such high standards (very minor issues around booking people to use our table immediately after us). However, we will definitely be going back to experience the food, drinks and environment again over this coming Christmas. Keep up the great work!!!

Brilliant. ... quite simply brilliant. This is a gastro pub and not fine dining but the food is awsome for the price of £6-8 for a starter and 9-13 for a main, with steak coming slightly above this.
Beers aee great with the usual draughts complimented by some good hand pulled guest beers..... try the paddle of 3 x beers of your choice for £3.50. ..bargin.
Staff are so attentive, decor is on point and the welcome from Paul n his team is bang on. Come and enjoy some of the best Lancashire hospitality in a beautiful Lancashire village.
You will be happy u did.
