Very dull in terms of lighting and very dated decor. A large amount of used/dirty glasses had built up at one part of the bar (taking over a quarter of the bar) which made it not look inviting. The atmosphere amongst the patrons was what you'd expect in a local pub.
Loses a star for a bottle of coke being more expensive than a beer!

Lovely room, quiet, comfy bed, had a few problems though. Door lock broken and no hot water being the main ones. The staff member on duty found everything very funny and went into long explanations about why things didn't work as they should, I just needed a solution. Eventually the boiler was re started and I had warm water (still not hot) at night but not the following morning. Housekeeping kindly provided Oat Milk, as requested, rather than dairy in my room, that was a lovely touch but no homemade treat as promised, receptionist also found this funny (it's not a big deal, but seriously, just

Absolutely wonderful experience! Fantastic staff, great service and all packaged up in a beautifully decorated room right in the heart of this very special part of South West London.

We love the Alma! Booked a table to watch the Rugby as had read the many many good reviews... What a wonderful place. Proper ol London drinkers pub with added elegance and some country charm, these guys have got it just right. Pub atmosphere for getting the pints in and a lovely dining room at the back for a more relaxed vibe. Really very attentive service, great selection of drinks, delicious looking menu and a cracking view of the game. We'll be back soon 🙏🍻💪

From drinks on a Friday to a Sunday Roast to round out the weekend, this place hits all the high notes. This place has a great energy about it. You can come in and get a quality drink from local beers to solid cocktails. Then on Sunday, you must come for a roast. What a treat. Expertly cooked meats and gravies and sides that warm your soul. Nothing better for a winter weekend than a meal like this. Get a reservation and get there early so your fav meats don't run out, as once they are out, no more roast. Lovely wine list and friendly service. You can't beat it!

The pub looks a bit shabby from the outside, then you get inside and it's a completely different ball game. Open spaces, big windows keeping the natural light in (a nice surprise considering the almost dingy impression you get from the exterior) and a really nice restaurant area if you want to eat. We had the roast (mine was pork) which was incredible and the service was quick and friendly. Will definitely come here again

This is a nice pub in Wandsworth. Every time I have been there the atmosphere has been good. It has never been completely packed or completely dead. This might be different at other times though. The service is always friendly and quick. The food looks good, but I haven't tried it yet.
This pub's location is almost perfect. It is right across the street from the train station. It's an ideal place to stop for a pint on your way home from work.

This is a traditional pub with a hotel attached. It has a large central bar and comfortable seating around the walls. it serves mainly Youngs beer (quelled surprise!) but they also had Sambrooks which is my preference. The food is a bit pricey but tasty. It is located in a quiet street just opposite the railway station. Overall, I would heartily recommend it.

I have no idea why they believe that putting peanut butter on a hamburger makes it 'an American burger' but it is an OK pub with fairly good food - typical upscale pub food. The clientele are a bit of the London 'Relly Heppy' set, so if you ignore them and sit in the back the experience will be much better.

Another Sunday Lunch with my son another good South London Pub/Restaurant.
Good selection of real ales including one of my favourites Bombardier
My wife had a great looking Seafood linguine which was excellent and my roast belly pork with red cabbage was great. David raved about his roast chicken as well.
Not badly priced but I would advise arriving early or booking on a Sunday it gets very busy

A mate brought us here a couple of weekends ago. The exterior tiling is fantastic and indoors the bar looks like it's largely been untouched in terms of decorating so that was another plus point.

It was pretty well attended for a Sunday night so the level of crowd noise competeing with background music meant raised voices for any conversation you wanted to have. Typically priced for London but a decent selection of Young's products on tap and inviting enough that I'd go back to see what the food's like.

Great Young's ale & a really good atmosphere. Lots of wood, fireplaces and wobbly old pub chairs, except with a surprisingly un-old-man-pub feel.

The food isn't bad either...

Let me clarify something.

This pub at midday on a weekend: 5 stars.
This pub in the evening on any day of the week: 2 stars.

With its island bar, fantastically friendly and skilled bartenders, spacious tables, generous availability of weekend papers, gastropub menu, projector screen for sport and tasty-delicious drinks, the Alma is a perfect place to spend a leisurely and boozy weekend afternoon, preferably nestled in the corner by the open fire in the winter months. But with its incredibly close proximity to Wandsworth Town station in conjunction with all the aforementioned pros of this pub

I don't often venture south of the river - I can't face the visa issues - and stumbled into the Alma last night out of necessity. That's necessity of somewhere to meet a mate, and necessity of having a drink before venturing from Wandsworth Town to Wandsworth Common. Who knew Wandsworth was: a) so big; and b) had so many mainline stations?

The Alma hit the spot in terms of handiness - it's right opposite Wandsworth Town - and in terms of just being a nice place for a beer. A mixed crowd, friendly (if not terribly competent) staff, no thumping music and a nice bright interior

If you're meeting a friend at a pub you've never been to in a part of town you're unfamiliar with, do you freak out? Just a little bit? Are you worried that you're going to wander around for ages trying to find the place, or bother said friend multiple times asking for specific directions?

I have a simple solution. Meet your friend at The Alma! It is LITERALLY across the street from Wandsworth Town train station. It doesn't matter if you've never been to that area in your life (which you should, it's nice). You walk out of the entrance to the station, walk straight

The Alma Tavern gave us shelter on a grey London afternoon when we somehow got lost having taken the wrong bus.
So this lovely haven was just perfect and I can't actually comment neutrally on it.
Traditional, wooden interior, comfy seats & armchairs and amazingly friendly staff.
We were only there for a few pints and coffee both of which were good though. Not too expensive either.
Besides the hot meals off the bar menu on the next table looked nice, too.
I'd surely come back in case I get lost thereabouts again. Thankfully the railway station is just opposite the pub itself. Very

This is an impressive corner pub, named after the Crimean War battle of 1854 (the name on the pub's parapet can be seen from the platforms of nearby Wandsworth Town railway station - a good example of early advertising).

The exterior has an impressive and attractive early 20th century decorative scheme of green tiling, which is perfectly preserved. The interior - although modernised - is still impressive, comprising a large single room with an island bar, an elaborate frieze running along the walls, a series of hand-painted mirrors and some original gas-light fittings.
